I also downgraded electron to 1.4.15 and I’m seeing dramatically improved performance!

Hey all, new user here.

I just installed everything according on my pi3 to the handy guides, using the automatic installer. However my MM lags whenever there’s a big animation like the compliment changing or the news feed updating. Using task manager it seems my electron cpu usage is around 35 percent at rest and over 100 percent during a transition.

Any thoughts on this? What information do I need to supply to help identify the problem?

Forgive me if this is dumb, but couldn’t you just delete the electron folder and reinstall a specific version with

Npm install electron@version?

Sorry for the radio silence, it’s been busy lately.

I can see what electron version I’m running tomorrow night, and I’ll try and change it to the same version you seem to be getting good performance on and report back.

@TiemenMoesker I tried two pies with exactly the same result. My spikes are way higher than 55%, on the order of max processing.

@TiemenMoesker it feels good to get some validation that I may not actually be crazy and there is a problem. Hahaha

I’ve done that, both ways giving the gpu more ram and less ram and that doesn’t seem to solve it for me.

I did remove all the excess on other installs I did but there’s no other processes running anyway to take away cpu time.

I’m really sorry =/ I don’t have any better information for you, maybe you can fix yours. Mine is still busted…

Is there anything to do after using the install script? Am I missing some next step?

Can you think of anything dumb i didn’t do once it’s installed? Like change a config file or anything?
