Just wondering how to make my smart mirror project touchscreen. Ive looked at touchscreen overlays but they are expensive and dont even say whether they are compatible with raspberry pi. If someone could point me in the right direction that’d be good

@TheMexicoon Easiest way? Probably an IR-Frame since projected capacitive touch foils usually don’t work through the mirror coating.

I suppose that the one way mirror film applied to a normal piece of glass could work with the touch foils since it’s less likely that the mirror film has a metallic coating that would interfere with the touch foil. But it’s just a guess, Haven’t tried it myself.

@TheMexicoon The IR-frame mounts on top of the mirror frame, so it doesn’t really care what type of monitor you use, as long as the size of the frame is the same as the monitor. Most of the IR-frames for sale out there works on Linux, so in theory almost all IR-frames will work with the Raspberry Pi

@johnnyboy pointed however out that you probably only get single-touch on linux, atleast I think it was Johnny

@broberg how does the coding work because i was planning on using Android os on the Pi would that be a viable option? Im open to use linux but would prefer android

@TheMexicoon Should work on android as well as long as the android OS and IR-Frame support each others.

The frame should just be recognized and used as any other input (like mouse or keyboard), no coding should be necessary.
