Is there a news ticker module that works ? The New York Times and google RSS feeds only give headlines.

It’s not the module. It’s the rss feed. Have you looked for an rss feed that provides more than the headlines? If you find one you can add it to the newsfeed module itself

there is also an option to activate “description” in the newsfeed module to get more information.
(if the rss-source have put anything in the description that is)
