Just to be clear, the acrylic mirror would have to be 2-way (sometimes called 1-way). Why are you introducing glass at all?
-
@mykle1 Worried about the chemical resistance of the mirror finish?
-
I’ve only ever used a damp cloth(water) on my acrylic mirror. Doesn’t seem to be any affect. You could put glass in front of it. I don’t see any reason why not.
-
I would try a thin piece of glass from a picture frame. That can be easily cut and is cheap. You don’t lose much if you’re not happy with the result.
-
One reason I would try adding clear glass. In my mirror setup my 2-way acrylic bows out a little, distorting the reflection just a little. having a flat piece of glass may help alleviate this. Or at least go with the thicker acrylic.
-
Any interface you add just introduces more reflection surfaces, so from the side I expect you’d see some ghosted text. If the purpose is to protect the acrylic I think it’s probably overkill.
-
My first mirror used acrylic and I didn’t put any glass in front nor behind it.

I just started working on my firts magicmirror
And like everybody thought of making a frame with an glas 2-way mirror or an acrylic piece with folie over it.
Bot tonight I thought: “Way not putting the folie right over te monitor?”
That would eliminate the glas or acrylic part.
