Very cool, even though I despise Apple. Ha

I’ve been doing the same thing with a 20" white Intel iMac, but have had one helluva time. None of the display controllers work with the native LG 1600x1050 display Apple put in these things, so I’ve basically gutted the iMac and am putting in a new display, etc.

@diemen112 Tried four different ones, all allegedly specific to the LM201W01 SL A3 that was in the iMac. None worked.

Not to hijack the thread, but this is how mine turned out.

First off, apologies for the necrobump — didn’t see a rule against it & did see the prompt but didn’t feel this warranted a new topic. Apologies if this is a breach of rules or etiquette here.

Anyway, @sonicgoose, I just came into an incredibly similar model (2006 iMac per the box, not sure of the specific model yet — diving into it tomorrow) without a motherboard, and my immediate thought was to turn it into an MM, leading me here. Wondering if you’d be down to do a quick rundown of your build or would be open to any question I might have after I take it apart tomorrow?

                            Thanks much!

@keaghoul first of all you need check the model nr. of the screen. its probably an LG screen, but i don’t know the model nr.
with that you can look on Ebay for a display controller for that particular screen.

if the PSU is still oke you kan use that one. you have to check which outlet is 12V+ continue is. and you can power the screen with that.
also you need a inverter from 12v to 5v for the Raspberry.

if you wan’t to use the the speakers u need also en simple AMP i use the TDA7297, i used a other one before but that one gives a white noise.
