For a customer of mine I created this magic mirror with a touchinterface. The frame is made from noble old oak. The project documentation can be found here: http://www.ijon.me/2016/12/11/magic-touch-mirror/

      finished mirror

            Very nice!! Love the oak!!

Question I have is what did they make the mirror out of so the touch panel still works? That’s what I’m about to build something exactly the same size!

Very nice, I really like your wood work.
              What size is the screen?

@cowboysdude google something like “IR Touch Frame” and matching products will show up. The touch part is just a frame that sits on top of the mirror. The TV is behind the mirror.

@ij0n Is the touch frame on your picture?

@Cato yes, but only in its mounted state. here you can see it better: http://www.ijon.me/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/2016-10-15-22.43.57-579x1030.jpg

due to the mirror it appears to be double as thick as it is. The one I used was 9mm thick.

@ij0n Is it the black frame? Wow, hard to see!

Where did you order it? Do you have any movie of the touch functions?

@Cato the touch feature isn’t THAT exciting to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_kCp1SO-BQ … the IR Touch Frame was ordered from Defi-Tech.com via AliExpress, i.e. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4-points-42-Infrared-Touch-Screen-frame-16-9-format-for-multi-touch-table-advertising-interactive/32582452717.html … the dimensions of the mirror where matched to that of the frame, and the display panel was centered behind it. Hope that helps :)

@berlincount Oh I think it WAS exiting because I thought the ir frame would be more visible. It’s hard to see on your mirror. Beautifull! :-)

Ijon really did an absolutely incredible job :) I basically only gave him the technical parts and a VESA mounting bracket (http://www.pearl.de/a-PX2528-1256.shtml, with additional weight distribution via https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008KL739C/) plus my idea of how it’s supposed to stack together, and he took it from there; creating CAD drawings, selecting and sourcing the wood after discussing the type with me, always keeping me in the loop while working on it. I really enjoyed the cooperation and can highly recommend him!

For reference, this is what it looked like before:
