MMM-ProfileSwitcher, A Profile/User/Layout Switching Module

@looolz I think what you are looking for is the MMM-ModuleScheduler which you can use in combination with my module as described here

@tosti007 Thanks!

@tosti007 Hello Tosti,
great MMM for the MagicMirror! Unfortunately i do not get it to work, even with a minimal example:
/* Magic Mirror Config Sample * * By Michael Teeuw http://michaelteeuw.nl * MIT Licensed. */ var config = { port: 8080, ipWhitelist: ["127.0.0.1", "::ffff:127.0.0.1", "::1"], language: 'en', timeFormat: 24, units: 'metric', modules: [ { module: 'alert', }, { module: "updatenotification", position: "top_bar" }, { module: 'clock', position: 'top_right', classes: 'TestA' }, { module: 'clock', position: 'top_left', classes: 'TestB' }, { module: 'compliments', position: 'lower_third', classes: 'default' }, { module: 'MMM-ProfileSwitcher', header: 'Profile', config: { defaultTime: 5000, defaultClass: 'default', everyoneClass: 'everyone', useLockStrings: false, enterMessages: { "TestA TestB": "Hey %profile%!" }, leaveMessages: { "everyone": "Bye %person%!", "TestA": ["Another goodbye", true] }, timers: { // when Brian is selected swap to the defaultClass after the defaultTime "TestA": {}, // // When Lisa is selected swap to Brian after 20 seconds "TestB": { profile: "TestA", time: 20 * 1000 }, "default": { profile: "TestB" } } } } ] }; /*************** DO NOT EDIT THE LINE BELOW ***************/ if (typeof module !== 'undefined') {module.exports = config;}
I can see the compliments module at the beginning as it is in the default class. But then the profile isn’t switching. Even with the ModuleScheduler (different Module) the profiles aren’t switching.
Do i have to define the classes somewhere else, for example in a css file or anything else?
Since nearly a week i’m trying to get it working but i’m running out of luck. Maybe you or anyone else any idea?
Appreciate it sooo much. Thanks in advance

@PatrickGlatz the config file looks fine to me and you don’t have to add the profiles anywhere else than in the module itself.
About the ModuleScheduler, I wrote a how to here about how to use it with this module. Sure you have that correctly set up?
I will copy paste your config into mine tomorrow morning and see if I can reproduce it.

Hey Tosti, thanks for the fast reply. Your help is warmly welcome.
As you can see in the minimal example I’m only try to get MMM-ProfileSwitcher to work. The other module is not in my minimal config since I want to isolate the issue. :question:
Of course I have read the usage instruction you mentioned in your link, but your MMM will come first this MMM will come second. True story. It’s a fact. (it was only a try to see wether this works or not :smirk: ).
I’m looking forward to hear from you.
Btw: My next steps would be to set up a new raspbian image and install everything from scratch with just your MMM. But this is a bit of effort and I don’t want to do this if there are any options left.
Regards

@PatrickGlatz
I just gave it a look and I know what’s wrong. The problem is that the code only looks at those times when switching to a different profile than the default profile. So it’s not a fault on your side but on mine.
Solution: I already solved it on my local pc and will upload the fixlater todayuploaded. All you will have to do is pull the new changes and the config you showed should work without a problem :)Sorry for the inconvenience, a mistake on my part. Thank you for letting me know!
Greetings

Hi! Thanks for this module, seems it is what I’m looking for.
Unfortunately, I very new with all this and wolud like to know if there is a step by step guide for this, for example, if I want so show the clock and the wheather in one profile, and in other news feed… is this possible?Kind regards
-
@pepemujica Yes this is totally possible! Unfortunatly there is no step by step guide for this. However I did write a small how-to here.
In your example you would have to give the weather and clock module the same profile name in
classes
and give the news feed a different one.Is that link enough information? If not let me know and I will try to explain it more in depth.
-
@tosti007 Thanks for answering, at the moment, can’t find where to change the profile name in classes, is it in a specific file?
-
@pepemujica You can set them in your config file. In this example the profile will be
TestA
for the clock module.{ module: 'clock', position: 'top_right', classes: 'TestA' },
