@kylelmartin after the Update to the actual OS, the Onboard-WiFi from my raspi0 was automatically enabled. Did you use the Desktop or console?

What do you mean by “after the Update to the actual OS”? I used the image linked above. I can’t do an update/upgrade as I have no internet connection. I’m using the console on the Pi and editing my conf in Mint Linux. I’m using Jessie Lite rather than the full install.

Thanks for the rewrite on the wpa_supplicant, but it still won’t connect to any provided wifi network.

@kylelmartin I have connected an USB Wlan Dongle (Edimax, working without extra software) and do the update. Im using Jessie Lite and later I installed the desktop.

Greetings from Toulouse. To do the update and upgrade, from the terminal type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

After the installation of the new updated packages, sudo shutdown. Wait. Remove the power and your edimax adapter and connect power. Now does it work?

Silly me! I should have known that to get a wifi adapter to work I needed a wifi adapter!
Fortunately I had a usb splitter with power supply and an edimax wifi lying around.

After the update and upgrade its working well.
Your help was greatly appreciated.

After step 4 i recommend creating an empty file called “ssh” and also put it in the Boot folder of the SD card.
So you don’t have to do step 6, cause ssh is started on boot with the default credentials (user: pi, password: raspberry)

After boot, it did not open the browser, instead it just showed the console window.
Problem was solved by installing x-server with sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg

my I please someone to make an image of sd card with installed and working MM? i’m trying about week to run MM on piZero and nothing… all the time diffrent errors which i don’t understand.

Warnings don’t necessarily mean that your mirror won’t work. Have you tried to run it after?

One thing to note: Installation of dependencies using sudo can, and often does, cause problems. So, in the future, simply use npm install without sudo

Updating your node should clear 4 of those 5 warnings

I’m currently trying to do this with Debian Stretch, but the noobs image.
Anyway, the update.rc (command 18) doesn’t work here correctly, because they switched to systemd instead of system-V. There is no error, but the command doesn’t get added to the startup.
Replace the file content from step 14 to:

sudo xinit /home/pi/startMidori.sh

After this, replace the command 18 with:

sudo systemctl enable startMagicMirror.sh

This should lead to the following output:

startMagicMirror.sh.service is not a native service, redirecting to systemd-sysv-install.
Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install enable startMagicMirror.sh

After this continue with the manual.

It currently only shows a white screen in my case, but I have just started and maybe that’s even normal, haven’t gotten that far yet in the manual.

Update1:
In my case the webserver was not accessible over the network, even after adding my client IP address to the /home/pi/MagicMirror/config/config.js file. This file is in the beginning not there, so first create a copy of the sample file:

cp /home/pi/MagicMirror/config/config.js.sample /home/pi/MagicMirror/config/config.js

After that, edit the file and replace the word localhost with 0.0.0.0. Also don’t forget to edit the ipWhitelist.

Still having just a white blank screen on my PI, but with the web browser from another pc it’s working :)

@patoberli Have you tried to change Step 20 (from first page of this thread) startMidori.sh file to also refer to the same http://0.0.0.0:8080 that you put in your config.js file? I’m not sure that’ll solve your “white blank screen” problem, but it’s worth a shot…

@holotfi2003 I’ve switched now to a RPI3, also for performance reasons. I can’t say if I will test again with the zero… it would be nicer though, thanks to smaller size.
