I’ve renamed my module MMM-SpotifyConnectWebUI to the more simpler name MMM-SpotifyConnectUI (removed the “web” part).

Since I did this after 2,5 hours I’m unable to edit my own post: https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/462/mmm-spotifyconnectwebui

      Something @administrators can do? Ref: https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/196/why-the-edit-timeout… 🙂

      Thanks in advance!

i think it will be handy if the creator of a topic can edit the first post unlimited to add updates, at least in the showcase section

          @strawberry-3.141 Yes, I agree.

There are valid reasons for both policies:

          • Contributors need to update information about “his” module without having to delete obsolete posting with comments/discussions that still are interesting - or leave “old” postings that leads to more confusion which one is valid

          • Admins want’s to stop confusions for commenters

          I know which policy I prefer… 😉

It’s confusing to readers when an original post gets changed later. It’s better to make an announcement in the thread. Keep the original for posterity.

@KirAsh4 Isn’t it confusing to have multiple announcements about the same module?

Maybe it is because I threat the Modules/ShowCase thread as a “Yellow Pages” for modules – as I guess many do. And now I feel the entry for “my” module is incorrect because I’ve changed name (or need to update something else).

Adding a new entry just adds confusion for the readers…

But - I’m just a user of this fantastic forum so I’ll add a new post. A bit reluctant though… 😉

I’m finding it a pain to scroll through the thread to find updates.

It would be good to have all of this information in the first post, with updates/date and time stamps

Agreed, so would it be possible for creators of threads in the module showcase to have the permission to move comments to the module troubleshooting section and add tags. That way the original showcase remains navigable?

@KirAsh4 Hi in some cases this is true but, especially, with module announcements it’s likely that updates will supersede the information in the originating posts. This is the case with one of my modules. I’ve held off starting a new topic with the same name and tagged an update on the bottom of the topic but this requires people scroll below the fold to find that information.

Is there way of announcing modules with version updates so that the oldest posts are pushed down so potential users see the latest post on the module?

                      Hey guys,
We are using NodeBB for the forum. Sadly I do not have the time to look into this at the moment but if someone would like to I would really appreciate! If you should find anything let me know 🙂

@paviro Can’t we just be given permission to edit posts?
