Electron CPU usage

if i remember correct there is also a possibility to increase performance of transformations, but I’m not sure. Have to research on this
EDIT: I can’t do any testing for a while, if someone wants to get a hand on it I think this should make an effect as it will optimize the rendering from cpu usage to gpu. It’s still a new stuff though and I’m not sure if it is supported in electron yet.
.MODULENAME { will-change: opacity; }replace modulename with the actual module name

Maybe we are on to somthing here.
My hardware =BCM2835

And I DO have this problem.My hardware = BCM2709
I do NOT have this problem
I’ve long suspected that this was/is a hardware issue. Why? I’ve done nothing special or different to my Pi 3 (except for adding a fan), yet it runs flawlessly, smoothly, and without the cpu overload experienced by a few select users. Assuming they have done nothing out of the ordinary (most have done fresh installs of the OS and default install of MM) yet their Pi 3’s exhibit inordinate amounts of cpu load at rest and extreme cpu load with just a simple function like the compliments changing.
@strawberry-3-141 There’s no need for me to try your suggestion but perhaps someone experiencing this problem will test it and report back their findings.
-
Ill hook up my PI in a sec and test it. I am supposed to put that line of code in the main.css file right? (Just to be sure)
-
custom.css probably

@strawberry-3-141
@Mykle1Sad to report; Didn’t seem to solve the problem. YET, It almost seemed like the fade out animation was a tiny bit smoother, can’t say it for sure tho.
-
@TiemenMoesker bugger, also when you increase gpu memory to a higher level than 64mb default
Also it could still be unsupported in electron or it has to be taken to another element…
-
I’ve tried 64,128 and 256. No improvement :(
-
@TiemenMoesker maybe also @Jeff could have a look after his holidays as he is quiet familiar with css and he could check if the stuff I mentioned is valid

-
@strawberry-3.141 Alright, although I am not sure this has anything to do with css. First, because 99% of the people who have MM2 don’t have this problem, yet the same css. Second, I just found out that it’s not just the Newsfeed and the Compliments. I have installed the MMM-Earth module and the same thing happends. Time freezes, animation starts (not smooth at all, it only shows me one fade frame), CPU usage spikes to 99% and my PI is hotter than a BBQ.
I think it has something to do with the hardware.

Just set is to 96, still the same.

My suspicion as well, as previously stated. And just to cover all bases, the only interface I have enabled is VNC. I don’t know if that matters in the least.

I researched the BCM2835 today if there where any known problems with it. Turns out there are, I just didn’t understand any of them. English is not my first language and I am a kinda new to the whole Raspberry Pi stuff and all the programming around it.
-
@TiemenMoesker I’m sure thats not the reason for it, but it was worth trying it as a possible fix

You have a link for that?

Let me try, appreciate the help dude. Best forum i’ve ever been on. Problem is not solved yet, but I am happy there are some more brains in de game to help us out.

That makes perfect sense. If your Pi struggles with the simple compliments transition then it would certainly have trouble with MMM-EARTH. I’m even more sympathetic now because that’s my module! :-(

This is what I found just typing in Rapberry BCM2835.
Not sure if this has anything to do with this problem tho. -

For my two raspi3:
Both of them are the BCM2835 Hardware-Versions. First BCM2835 has the problem, the other BCM2835 hasn’t. Wow… :-D
