@mattx38 I have just the Wifi icon on my MM, can you paste your config and I’ll take a look to at it. Also I setup a little script to restart my networking in the event of disconnection which I can share if that’ll help?

Is the missing WiFi icon still an issue? I haven’t looked into that area of the code. If there seems to be a problem I can dive into it.

All right, I’ll dive back into it and see if I can fix it.

Update: Some progress made but still a ways to go. I ended up refactoring a lot of the code.

Okay, I have completed my first pass at fixing the WiFi symbol. It works for me, so let’s see how it goes for you.

If you’re not using my repository, you’ll have to switch by deleting your modules/internet-monitor folder, cloning from my repository at https://github.com/BrianHepler/internet-monitor and then installing like normal. You’ll have to cd internet-monitor and then npm install.

If you’re already using my repository, just cd MagicMirror/modules/internet-monitor and git pull. It will probably tell you that you need to stash package-lock.json. Just delete that file and try again.

Warning: The custom WiFi icon doesn’t work yet. I got the default one to show up, but I’m still working on the one with the custom colors. But right now I want to verify that you guys can at least see the WiFi icon.

                  Hi,
I can see the wifi icon but no color icon is visible!!!
Something is missing in the source code to update the icon.
Can you have a look and correct it please?
                  best regards,
                  Adel

@Axel51 Is the wifi icon ovelaying the label “Internet Monitor” on yours? I’d like to be able to be able to see the full label. Maybe I missed something. Thanks

Has this died recently for anyone else? I have made no config changes and it’s stopped working. I’ve tried with a new server ID in case they have changed, but still no luck.

@causerino also, please use code blocks for any config data

                          paste text
                          select text
then push button that looks like

I can confirm. It appears that the speedtest service is down. I’m troubleshooting now.

Update: Problem is with the speedtest-net package. Not sure what the problem is, but it has been down for the past week. They’ve opened an issue with the developers, so hopefully they’ll get around to it. The SpeedTest website and their paid services appear to be working, so something is up with the API.

I’m looking at my fork of the original repository and the latest changes to speedtest-net and I’m going to prep an update. Once it comes back, I’ll publish.

                                    1. the real question is why using v1.6.2 version of SpeedTest library?
                                      v2.2.0 solve the problem ;)

                                    2. I’m glad that you use windows
Now retry with your pi, a linux env or … with wsl under windows ;)

the problem is under windows, this path is bad as it doesn’t have \

you can’t even do it with a .cmd (and bash script without .sh) in the current folder…
as windows would work, but then linux would fail as current folder not in the PATH

I wrote a js file that could be launched on either and launch the right thing

but a pain in the rear

the real question is why using v1.6.2 version of SpeedTest library?

Because using speedtest-net after this version requires a code change.

Oh, great. I develop on Windows so I can make use of a proper IDE. Fine. I’ll dig up something.

Sigh. It figures. Not tonight, but I’ll work on it in the near future.

Okay, I believe I have it fixed for this module. Please switch over to the 2022-fix branch and give it a pull & install. Let me know if it works for you and I’ll issue a PR.

Big shout out to @bugsounet for figuring it out and from whom I blatantly stole a lot of code. At some point I remembered that this isn’t my module and I’m just trying to get it functioning again. It helped me ignore a lot of things I would have changed.
