Yeah that was really fast! I haven’t even gotten my USB ports to work yet. Still waiting on a pi replacement from Canakit.

Alreet. I’m Mick, from the North East of England. I run my own building company, so as you can imagine, coding etc is an absolute mile away from anything i know :-)).
A friend showed me a ‘magic mirror’ and i thought ’ i HAVE to try to make that’. Well the framework etc was simple for me (having all the necessary tools :-)). However. the ‘coding’ aspect might as well be written in Klingon. I have SOOOOOOO many questions to help get this little project to fruition (hopefully in time for my missus coming back from her holidays in a couple of weeks time :-0 )
Anyhoo… i’ll save all of my questions for my next post. :-)

@mickyas ask away… happy to help if I can.

@RamblingGeekUk Thank you, but you’ll regret saying that :-))))))) and i’ll apologise now if i should post in the wrong section or ‘step on someones toes’.
can i post my questions here, as i’ve already posted a (long winded) topic, entitled ‘New and confused’ and had a response from Mykle 1 (very helpful…and patient :-)).

I thought I heard someone mention my name. :-)
Mick, at the top of every window of the forum is a line of icons. The left most icon will bring you to “Categories” when you click on it. If you scroll down just a bit on that page you will see “Troubleshooting.” This is where you’ll want to post your questions for help. If you post questions for help somewhere else your question might not be seen or responded to. We’re in the “Introduce Yourself” category right now. Not everyone looks in here, and certainly not to help someone in need, like yourself.

Hi all,
My name is Robert I’m 30 years old and I live in Berlin. I have a wife and two small children (currently 2 and 4 years old).I work as an aviation design engineer what is in line with my education. Therefore, I have a solid mechanical design background but rather little programming knowledge. The only language I feel somewhat comfortable with is Python. However, I don’t have any experiences with Java, Node.js or Linux but I’m on a steep learning curve now.
As a big fan of Sci-Fi movies and new technologies, when I saw MM for the first time I knew this is something I want to put my hands on it :) When I showed MM pics to my wife, project has been immediately accepted (of course) and I got the full home support :). Currently I have RPi3, Acer monitor waiting to be transformed into MM and wooden planks for a frame. I still don’t have the actual mirror – I’m planning to use silver PVC plate cut to size.
This is not the only project I’m doing but this is the one with the big WOW effect :)
I hope I could be able to contribute to this forum by sharing my experience and maybe help more on the mechanical side of your projects. It’s great to be here and to see how active this community is.
You can find me on GitHub.Thank you all for your support and hard work! Good job!

Take pictures of your progress with your mirror. Then, when you’ve completed it, you can post the pictures and a story to go along with them. Most of all, have fun! :^)
