I’d make Sam’s changes, but change the port number - something else could be grabbing the port for some reason.

I use 60001.

evroom’s got it right. OMXplayer isn’t being installed. I understand it went under a few management changes, so it could be trying to access an old version or something. RTSPStream’s clunky enough that you might find it easier (and better) to run OMXplayer independently of the mirror, like evroom has done, as have I.

steps really to take RTSP-Stream out and run OMX directly:

1. Find the resolution of your screen so you know your range. (1920x1080 in my case)
2. Figure out the resolution of the stream. (640x360 in my case)
3. figure out where on the screen you want it using the top left corner, this would become your X1 and Y1 (I wanted it in the upper right corner, so, that was rather easy)
4. Add width of your stream to X1 for X2, height of your stream to Y1 for Y2.
5. omx player will likely need the following commands: “–avdict rtsp_transport:tcp --live --fps 30” as well as the following
6. The “–win” command string is “X1 Y1 X2 Y2”
7. If you have your screen rotated, and omxplayer doesn’t play along (it likely wont), add “–orientation” and how many degrees to twist (90 = portrait “right”, 180 = landscape “upside down”, 270 Portrait “Left”) command line, and adjust X and Y calculations for 90 or 270 rotation. The X and Y will remain as if the screen isn’t rotated.

I used the first one of these, but the other 3 is as rotated for the same corner.

How do you do it with this OS Version? The documentation confuses me because of all the “If this OS/driver then …”

I’m using defaults for video driver, other than locking the resolution because I turn off the screen when not in use, and the device reboots nightly for other software running on it.

@Sean - been thinking about changing up my calendar a bit, and was wanting to see if this is possible. I want the majority of my screen to be a monthly calendar (the entire month), but not show individual events on a particular agenda/calendar (“Appointments”), rather show the number of events each day. For other agendas/calendars, I want items to show. Example using a downloaded monthly calendar template (18th, 19th, and 20th is typed in like I want)

Then, I’d like a separate view, using only today’s events. I currently use the “daily” view, but I’d like to restrict it to “Today”.

Is this possible?

As far as the monitor power, there’s lots of different ways to do it. Most of them involve the module “MMM-Remote-Control” check that one out.

I now have a button to turn off the monitor if I’m present but don’t want it on, and the monitor is on a Apple Homekit switch that turns off when I leave the office (Lock the door, and the lights and monitor turn off via Homekit)

I gave up on the default calendar long ago. I went to CalendarExt2.

Did you run it from the MagicMirror directory?

If so, then NPM is ignoring it’s own documentation. I can’t help further, as I run it through PM2, and PM2 does the magic for me.

There are several modules that adds that functionality. MMM-Remote-Control comes to mind.

in your MagicMirror folder, run " npm run config:check" after modifying your config, it’ll point out any errors you’ve made so you can fix them…

Try the other stream types. VLC don’t work within the magic mirror. I had to edit the string to get it to even launch using the arguments supplied by the module author, and then launching it under MM’s system didn’t ever work right, would produce a blank window. change the local player to omxplayer or ffmpeg.

Then I’ll manually update the module for now - would you be able to add that in at a later time? I’d love to be able to have a quick script to run through my modules and update 'em as they call for updates.
