    • MMM-OctoMon - displays energy usage history for your Octopus Energy account

Hi there! I’ve created my first module. It displays electric and gas energy usage if you have an Octopus Energy supply.

      screenshot

It uses’s Octopus’s public REST API to request usage history.
      https://developer.octopus.energy/docs/api/

Very basic, but does the job.

      Get the code on GitHub:
      https://github.com/christopherpthomas/MMM-OctoMon

Inspired to create this because we’ve just bought a Nissan Leaf (full electric vehicle), and the ‘Octopus GO’ tarrif gives us cheap overnight electricity between 12:30am and 4:30am which goes a long way to charge the car! Spotted their API and thought I’d have a crack at it.

Oh and, if you sign up to Octopus with my referral code, we’ll both get £50! Yaaay!

I’ve had my magic mirror for two years now, and still going strong!

Hope someone else finds it useful!

@Mykle1 Yes, that’s weird. As far as I can recall I didn’t do anything different when I uploaded the first load of pictures for the main post. I took them on my iphone (which has not changed all year) and uploaded them via dropbox to my home laptop, and copied them into the post from there, however comparing the dimensions of them on my hard disk, maybe dropbox resized the original ones for me… I don’t remember changing any settings…

@saurabh76 You’re welcome! Thanks for your interest!

      It’s 1.1MB, about the same size as all the others I’ve posted. Here’s a 50% smaller version…

Ooh! That one worked! Ok… resize resize resize…

@saurabh76 Sorry for the delay… Above is how the mirror looks in the context of our living room, it’s a bit dark but it gives you a good impression of how unobtrusive the brightness of the screen is.

Compare with our bright Christmas tree!

Close up from above. You should see what I mean about how bright the screen appears when you’re looking down at it…

Thanks @Mykle1 - I might have given up trying to upload pictures! Is dimension a factor in replies? The originals were 3264x2448.

@mirror2onthewall Nor did I! :) When you’ve got a laptop with a hinged screen, you don’t think twice about changing the viewing angle, but you don’t really get chance to adjust it when it’s fixed to the wall! I think I was lucky in that respect.
