Thanks, it’s a start. Google didn’t give me anything useful.

    • I fried my Raspberry Pi 3 model b+...

      …by accidentally connecting 12V to the 5V GPIO pin in a brain-fart-moment.
At first it looked like the pi was dead, although the red LED was still turning on but some magic smoke escaped at the same time…

Some google research later and I found out the magic smoke escaped from a diode (D5) which is used for the power protection circuit. After removing said diode the pi boots up again and seems to run just like before. However, I would like to replace that diode with a new one for the next time my brain stops working. Does anyone know where to get them? I couldn’t find anything at all!. The brand seems to be ST or something like that and it is written “BUZ GP 748” on it. That’s all I know at the moment.

Anyone able to help finding the right diode?

@retroflex said in Cannot rotate display on new MM 2.4.0:

What command do you use to check temperature?

      /opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd measure_temp

    • RE: Cannot rotate display on new MM 2.4.0

My RasPi seems to run at ~25% load according to the taskbar, when the Mirror runs in the background.
Edit: Just checked the temps via command prompt and it’s at 63°C. I think that#s too high and will have a look at it tomorrow.
More edit: Without MM running the temps are around 56°C. So the 63°C - although it seems high - are good enough values.
I also tried the dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d but the screen rotation didn’t work at all and the screen resolution was very low and I couldn’t adjust it to FHD.

    • RE: Cannot rotate display on new MM 2.4.0

I updated my Mirror yesterday and used dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d instead of dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d and didn’t have to change anything else to keep the screen in portrait mode.

    • RE: Powering my mirror?

2A is not nothing for a thin cable. What kind of cable are you using? If it is just a very thin one, it would also explain the huge voltage drop. Try using a thicker one.
I am running the Pi with a SSD with one of those very cheap china buck converters without any issues for 6 months now.

    • RE: Hi i am new

      Hi Darren,

first of all: strokes suck! My wife had one in 2015 at the age of 37. She recovered well and is almost back to normal. Only the fine motor skills in her right hand still cause trouble but it’s still getting better.

What have you tried to install your modules? git clone ... and then nmp install? Have you modified your config.js accordingly?
I have no experience with Google assistant yet, so I can’t help there.

    • RE: 27" Mirror with selfmade frame

FYI: Glastroesch.de doesn’t ship their mirrors. They also do not directly sell to private people but give you a contact that does. Apparently they are around Ulm (for those that live close enough).

    • RE: Should I put acrylic mirror behind glass?

I would try a thin piece of glass from a picture frame. That can be easily cut and is cheap. You don’t lose much if you’re not happy with the result.
