    • Custom Frame Building Service Available

Are you wanting to start a MagicMirror project, but have little or no woodworking experience? Does the idea of building a frame seem daunting? I’m offering a custom frame building service and wanted to see if there would be any interest from this forum.

I’m a carpenter by trade, and I’ve built several of these frames here in England at my workshop. I’ll work with you to determine the exact frame sizing required to fit your monitor. Your monitor would simply sit inside the frame and be secured with 4 small fixings. All frames are made with pocket hole fixings, and can be either butt-joint or mitered, depending on preference. We can also add holes for switches/vents/power cables as required. These are professionally made, solid frames, and will last for many years.

Prices would start from £150 for a standard 27” pine frame, which can then be stained/painted to suit taste. Shipping can be arranged anywhere in Europe. If you’re interested and want to chat further, please don’t hesitate to drop my an email - oliver.tooth@hotmail.co.uk

Just to confirm - this is just the frame for sale, not the glass. I do have the screen available to purchase too.

New card ordered for delivery tomorrow. I’ll copy everything across and see where that takes me. Will it be a straight clone, or will I need to do additional installs?

I’ve given this ago, and the error still reports the same. Would a new SD card fix this problem?

    • Syntax Errors Stopping MM from Loading...

      Hi,

Recently my Magic Mirror wouldn’t load, just a black screen. Absolutely nothing had changed in the config or the setup. I appreciate it’s an outdated version! Has anyone any idea what might be causing this? Virtual brownie points for any pointers.

MagicMirror will not quit, but it might be a good idea to check why this happened. Maybe no internet connection?

    • 27" Mirror Frame For Sale (UK)

      Hi Folks,

      Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/0RIGpqp
      Price: £75.00 GBP

I’m selling off my frame to make way for a new one in a different colour. It’s made for a 27" monitor that has its bezel removed. I’ll chuck in the following: LED strip (you’ll need to purchase a PSU & controller (about £5), the light-up switch to turn the LED’s on, the USB service port (to allow to connect![alt text](image url) a mouse/keyboard, or to charge a phone, and an IEC inlet to power the mirror.

It also has a hole at the bottom to fit a PIR sensor should you wish. The build quality is strong and secure. The joints are by no means perfect and this is reflected in the price. To confirm, you’re receiving the frame and the above components - not the glass, the screen, or any of the internal components. I can ship anywhere in Europe at your cost.

For serious enquiries, I can send plenty more photos/dimensions.

    • Disable auto-updates?

Is there a way to stop/disable all automatic updates for both the magic mirror framework, all modules, and any updates to the Pi?

    • RE: Fitbit

@bhepler That’s great news! I’ve managed to get mine up and working, but from what I can tell initially, it doesn’t seem to stay authorised for longer than a day, i’m currently browsing the python-fitbit forum for help on that. It’s also only showing data for steps, with all other fields showing 0. Is this something you’ve encountered?

      HI,

I’m trying to use your script for the exact same purpose, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to deactivate the screensaver. I’ve tested the script and the PIR sensor is working fine, any ideas?

    • RE: Pir Sensor - Screen switches on and off instantly

You should have two small dials on the sensor, one of these relates to the ‘time on’. Try turning that to full and see if that helps.

On a side note, did you run into any issues during install with the node expecting a different version to the one installed?

@bhepler Cheers for the pointers. I’ve looked through the dev console and I can’t see anything glaringly obvious. Weirdly however, i’ve gone onto my account section on Fitbit’s website and it doesn’t actually say that this module (app) is listed as having access to the data, despite me running through all the setup as written.
