MMM-doomsDay - The countdown module,
-
@pjkoeleman nope, probably a timezone issue on the Pi itself, does the clock work correctly? daylight saving time?
Try changing the time from 24:00:00 to 23:59:00
-
@broberg The Pi itself is working correctly, the clock module is giving me the right time and date. And is updating around midnight.
I Will try 23:59 and see what come’s out off it.
-
With time set to 23:59 the module is changing at 0:44. The question is were is the offset off 45 minutes comming from ?

I’m not trying to answer for broberg. It’s his module, but I use this module and I’ve had great success with it. It’s possible that the module is changing at 0:44 if you have the default
updateInterval: 60 * 60 * 1000,. If you started the mirror at 44 minutes past any hour, then it wouldn’t update until the next 44 minute mark. If this is your case, then your module updated at 23:44 and not again until 0:44. The logical solution would be to set theupdateInterval:to a smaller value or launch the module exactly on the hour, if that’s even possible. I don’t know if the module is set to always update at 24:00. If it’s not, then I would humbly request that it be added to the module. -
@Mykle1 You are right, changed it to 10 minutes. now have to wait what happens.

Ok, let me know how it goes. I’m never awake at midnight so I only see the module in the mornings, and it’s been correct all along for me.
-
@Mykle1 Now it was changing at 00:06 hour so this module works ok with the right config settings.

Good! I like this module. I’ve been using for a month now for all sorts of reminders. It’s a pretty nifty little module!
-
@broberg, thanks for the hard work :) I needed a “days up” counter for the lady friend. I modified the MMM-doomsDay.js so that it shows the number of days that we’ve been dating. I plan on changing the days to “X years, X days” sometime this week but wanted to say thanks!
edit: nice tag/username
-
@bberg115 Nice :D (easy to remember the anniversary then haha ;) )
My username is my lastname, so it’s easy to remember hahaha

Having an issue with the “toWhat” sticking.
I can not get it to change from “Leaving for Paris!”. See my code below:{
module: ‘MMM-doomsDay’,
position: ‘bottom_right’, // This can be any of the regions, best results in center regions
config: {
doomsDay: “2017-05-07 24:00:00”, // YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS, Do not alter the time, just the date
ToWhat: ‘Joeys Wedding in TN!’,
updateInterval: 1 * 3600000,
singular: ‘more day!’, // what it should say when it’s only one day left, default isDay Left
plural: ‘more days’, // what it should say when it’s more days left, default isDays Left
// See ‘Configuration options’ for more information.
}
},

Thanks! It worked but that was copied and pasted from GitHub. May want to make the change.

-
Also, is there a way to add multiple count downs to the one module or do you duplicate the module with every countdown?
-
@bminer1 nice catch, the example was wrong, somehow I missed that!
(it’s correct in the Configuration list however)Multiple instances in the config is the way to go at the moment,
-
It is possible to make instead of just days, weeks and days left? Thanks guys
-
I did it by myself, thank you anyway for the great module.

Hi all,
Bringing an old thread back up, just installed and got this module activated. I think I’ve done it correctly as per github but its not working. It just displays the ‘finished’ message the death and despair bit.Can anyone tell me what silly obvious thing I’ve done wrong? Config in the pic below
Thanks
Noel

try removing the comma at the end of the ‘toWhat’ line

Your config looks fine. I just installed and ran the module without a problem, duplicating your config entry. Are you sure you saved the config after having made the entry or that you are not working a second config? I’ve done that plenty of times.
Here is a screenshot of the module working with your config

{ module: 'MMM-doomsDay', position: 'bottom_center', // This can be any of the regions, best results in center regions config: { doomsDay: "2019-07-22 24:00:00", // YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS, Do not alter the time, just the date toWhat: "Leaving for the USA!", // See 'Configuration options' for more information. } },If it continues to give you trouble, you could try https://github.com/mykle1/MMM-EventHorizon which does basically the same thing, with a few more options, as well as a working countdown timer.
