Making Frame/Case for Magic Mirror

So, I am stuck on how to make the frame and case for the magic mirror. My plan was to create a frame and case using 2x4s of wood, and the making some sort of wood piece to keep the monitor in place. My question, is how do I attach the mirror? Do I attach to the monitor? How do I keep in it place, do I glue it to the frame? I guess what I am trying to ask is, how exactly do I make the frame/case for the magic mirror? Thanks!

In my case, I didn’t attach the mirror to the monitor. I simply “sandwiched” it between the monitor and the frame. 2 “L” brackets hold everything in place. Here is my explanation of how I built the box and frame:

You build the box to fit the monitor. You build the frame to only show the viewable area of the monitor, as if you were building the frame to match the bezel. When you attach the box to the frame, the frame creates a “lip” inside the the edge of the entire box. You put the mirror in first. It rests on the “lip” that is created by the frame. You put the monitor in next and it rests upon the mirror AND the “lip” that was created by the frame.

Measure and cut precisely!

Same thing here. the only way to be able to unbuilt it if needed (and it was needed several times in my case)

I also left the display loose from the the frame and mirror encase for any reason I wanted to replace the display. I imagine it would also help with heat dispersion if it is left a little loose. Make sure the frame is strong enough to withstand the weight of the display and you’ll be alright.

The box is made to fit the monitor exactly. The frame opening is exactly the same as the bezel is before you remove it from the monitor. When you place the box on the frame it will create the lip for you because the frame opening is smaller than the box opening. Just center the box so the lip created by the frame is equal all the way around.

Yes, I glued the box and frame together. I also shot a few nails with a nail gun for extra support

Yes I have to build one for a 32" …

I ran some 2x4s through the table saw to make a lip. Kind of dangerous as I had to remove all the safety shielding and move the blade all the way up. Chipped away ~1/16th at a time until the lip was > 1/4 inch.

Mitered the corners and had a very solid and simple 4 piece frame that can be finished directly or further decorated.
