Hi, I’m looking to build my first magic mirror, and since I live in the US, I would like to get all the required hardware off Amazon (and preferably, Prime).

Here’s what I have so far:

    Raspberry PI 3 Model B A1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core ARMv8 CPU, 1GB RAM

    CanaKit 5V 2.5A Raspberry Pi 3 Power Supply / Adapter / Charger

    18" x 24" Acrylic See-Through Mirror, 3mm, 30% Transparent

ArtToFrames 16x20 inch Eggshell Rustic Barnwood Wood Picture Frame, WOM0066-1343-YWHT-16x20

AmazonBasics HDMI Input to DVI Output Adapter Cable - 6 Feet (Latest Standard)

SCIGRIP 16 10315 Acrylic Cement, Low-VOC, Medium bodied, 5 Ounce Tube, Clear

NT Cutter Multi-Use Plastic Cutter with Plastic Cutting Blade and Precision Knife Blade, 1 Cutter (M-500P)

Cable Leader Power Cord Splitter Cable For 2 NEMA 5-15R to 1 NEMA 5-15P (14 inches / 16 AWG)

I already have an old ViewSonic monitor that takes DVI input, and about the size of 20x13.

Is there any major flaw with my selection? All suggestions are welcomed.

Really, there can be no flaw in your selections. Everyone’s mirror is custom and personal. No two are alike. That’s part of the beauty of it.

With that said, I also bought most of my items from Amazon.
CanaKit that included Pi3 B, charger, SD Card, case, heat sinks.
      12" x 24" acrylic 2 way mirror
HDMI to DVI cable (my monitor is DVI also)
      3 outlet mini power strip

I built my frame from wood I had on hand and casing from a local Home Depot. I only had to shorten the length of my acrylic mirror. I used a standard utility knife and a metal T-sqaure to score the glass, carefully making several passes with the blade, then I snapped it like a piece of sheetrock. The only glue I used was wood glue while making the frame. My mirror is not affixed in any way.

Best of luck to you and enjoy the process.

      Have a look at mine

This is awesome!!! Thank you for sharing!
I’m also preparing for making a magic mirror by myself, so your experience would definitely help me a lot!

By the way, is your magic mirror touch-screen? And if I want to make a touchable magic mirror, does that mean I need a touchable led monitor?

          Thank you so much!

          I'm statistically significant.

I would add a USB Microphone
              https://www.amazon.com/Kinobo-Microphone-Desktop-Recognition-Software/dp/B00IR8R7WQ/

              And a PIR Sensor
              https://www.amazon.com/PIR-motion-sensor-HC-SR501-Arduino/dp/B00L9GKN3I/

If I was to do it again, I would call your local glass shops first. I got the same acrylic mirror from Amazon and no matter how careful I was with the frame, it flexes and create a funhouse mirror effect. I called around and the first glass shop I contacted had glass two-way mirror for roughly the same price.

What are you planning to do with the acrylic cement?

I bought a real two way mirror and it was not cheap… BUT worth it :)
