Since my monitor seems to get a bit dim after 2 years of full-time running (yes I know, I should use a PIR sensor), my mirror monitor seems to become a bit dim.

I’m looking for a extremely bright, super flat, affordable monitor. Preferable 24". Any suggestions?

Are there any cheap OLED displays out there? Would be much more energy efficient, wouldn’t it?

Absolutely and nearly nothing would need to be lit so a lot less energy. I also though about adding just the LCD matrix without the backlight in front of the mirror, would that work? I once had a clock that was transparent and had a display on it.

@paviro Then your mirror would be inverted. 😉

@KirAsh4 yeah sadly… We will probably have to wait a few more years for that 😞

I got this one for 200 euro in MediaMarkt:

                        http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/435115/lg-27mp37vq-b-zwart.html

It’s very thin - especially without the bezel (I think it’s 13mm at its thickest) and the control board is completely detachable and only slightly bigger than the Raspberry Pi. It was a very easy install. Only downside is that the HDMI cable comes straight out - the back they all seem to these days. I solved this with a 90 degree HDMI cable.
