        I want to manage it from my desktop in my office using Git Bash ssh connection.

        also, don’t know what this means… manage… it doesn’t NEED to run MM at all… just display it.

        u could have two instances running on the base machine… 2 different ports…
        the tablet accesses port(8081) , the base another (8080)

        run the tablet instance as serveronly then no ui memory consumption on the base for that instance

        to make a second copy from the first, just copy the MM folder to MM1, and change the config for port (and address/whitelist above)

        then do npm serveronly for the tablet mm

          All,
          You can not copy and paste though. I had to manually type it all in to make it work.
          Still in MagicMirror;
          nano package.json
          right under the other “start”: “???”
          go to the line below it and hit enter.
          Then type in the blank space you just made.
          “start”: “node_modules/.bin/electron js/electron.js”,
          //DO NOT LEAVE OUT THE PUNCTUATION. ESPECIALLY THE COMMA AT THE END.
          //I speak from expereince on this matter.
          //Mykle1 usually has to help me find it after struggling for a couple hours.
          THEN:
          cd ~/MagicMirror/vendor
          npm install
          cd fonts
          npm install
          NOW IT will RUN
          Thank you agian Mykle1
          I am really enjoying this on my laptop,
          so much easier to do testing ect.

            @Plainbroke-0 it was Sam, but anyway I cut and paste ALL the time. you need to add the code block marks around the actual steps to make them readable

              I just made the change, and this is what I get when trying npm start:

              $ npm start

              magicmirror@2.12.0 start C:\Users\blake\MagicMirror
              run-start.sh

              ‘run-start.sh’ is not recognized as an internal or external command,
              operable program or batch file.

                  I guess I spoke too soon. npm starts, but I have a blank screen. Haven’t done anything to the config.js file, except make a copy of the config.js.sample, and removed the .sample. See output:

                  $ npm run config:check

                      @blake_northrup because u installed on windows, there are a couple extra steps

                      cd MagicMirror
                      cd vendor
                      npm install
                      cd …\fonts. 2dots
                      npm install
                      cd … 2dot

                      the npm start

                      this phone editor will not let me enter 2 dots, displays as 3

                          @sdetweil Still getting black screen after performing these steps. For some reason, it is stating that I have the wrong syntax in the config file.

                                @dphotograph Hey dphotograph, I had somehow copied the bottom part twice, and that was my problem. I just copied the config sample again, and built all of my modules, one by one.

                                      Hallo there,
                                      if you will find some free time to help :
                                      I tried a few times to process the whole procedure of starting new MM software on PC - I am not even a newbie so it is really hard to say what I am doing wrong.
                                      see pic - does it say to you anything? 18f689c8-c4ec-4f15-9558-c554ee194971-image.png
                                      it seems I will have to give up - programming is not for all ;-)

                                        @Uwe-Kretsen do not install under mingw, just open a command prompt/ powershell prompt and do the git clone/npm install

                                        u need git of course and node/npm (google how to install)

                                        then u need to do some more steps as the setup is for linux

                                        cd MagicMirror
                                        cd vendor
                                        npm install
                                        cd ..
                                        cd fonts
                                        npm install
                                        cd ..

                                        then edit package.json and change the start line
                                        from

                                        		"start": "DISPLAY=\"${DISPLAY:=:0}\" ./node_modules/.bin/electron js/electron.js",

                                        to

                                        		"start": "node_modules/.bin/electron js/electron.js",

                                        then npm start works as expected

                                        also, you must manually copy the MagicMirror/config/config.js.sample to the initial config.js
                                        also create the empty MagicMirror/css/custom.css
