HMDI (from Pi 3) to DVI? Will it work?
-
Will the HANNspree HF225DPB monitor work for the Magic Mirror application?
It doesn’t have an HDMI input, but could I just use an HDMI to DVI cable to connect the Pi 3 to the monitor?
Thanks!
-
Yes, I do the same on my development monitor.

that’s what I am doing. I was using an adapter for initial testing, then I bought a HDMI to DVD cable from amazon for the final build. Works just fine

I have a DVI right angle adapter with a DVI to HDMI Cable.
-
Hi, will work VGA cable with HDMI adapter? Thank you very much!
-
Dont get a straight VGA to HDMI cable because it wouldnt work. You would need convertor which is a bit larger than you would expect and often need to be powered.
-
Right, you need an active HDMI-VGA converter.
You could go for this: https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry-pi-hdmi-to-vga-convertor
However the “chain” looks a bit ugly (second image) and I could imagine it is a bit unsteady.Or you go for this: https://www.pi-supply.com/product/gert-vga-666-hardware-vga-raspberry-pi/
However this blocks almost all GPIO ports and you need to solder it on your own, as it is a kit -

in the same idea an adaptor display port > hdmi would also work no? anyone has tried this ?
-
@bibi display port to hdmi works definitely. it’s both digital, so the adapter should be pretty simple and cheap (I use one for ~12€ from miniDP to HDMI on my laptop)
