    • RE: Are you tired of editing config.js, or have trouble doing it, see my new module

@sdetweil ok I flash reinstalled MM (worryingly good at it now…) and it seems to be working :)

The config pops up on the webpage correctly and all.

      Thanks Sam!

    • Camera via browser

      Hi All,

Just wondering the plausibility of the following scenario. I have MM running on my homelab and connect into it via an old PC (soon will be an old phone for power reasons, fml). Essentially this PC has a webcam connected to it for the intended use taking pictures of course.

So the current solutions come down to modules such as SelfieShoot that uses local resources to the MM instance or deploy my webcam as a IP cam and then use a remoting module to display that feed… If there is another way please please let me know! Also yes the SelfieShoot moudule is likely not to work but I’m hopeful.

The ideal scenario is if theres a way for the MM to request webcam access via the browser and then store that result locally on the MM container.

@sdetweil yes makes sense and no I cant see any indication of a port opening up for any devices even.

@sdetweil ok so I removed my static IP and the Alexa features are working again well some…

Also rebooted there with no luck and deleted the devices and repaired… The monitor on/off is working but the selfie shoot isnt. I checked the dev panel and the notification isnt being received and alexa is saying its not responsive?

@sdetweil hmmmm would you think it has something to do with my static IP?

I did the whole thing via my interfaces file and then reserved an IP in my router for it also.

Edit: I did the static in in the DHCP file. Interfaces is just to activate my USB network adapter (PI OS on desktop)

@sdetweil ok so after fighting with my interfaces file for a few days I have a static IP

Only issue is that I can discover devices on the Alexa app but they arent usable and just come up an unresponsive…

It seems the static IP has messed with that feature ? Any advise on this please?

@sdetweil ah ok I’ll set a static! TBH I did have that concern but i was wrong to assume it was dynamic with the IP’s

I’ll come back if this works or not , I have a call rn
