@cowboysdude I’m going for voice recognition using Alexa instead of Jasper
PIR to disable/enable the monitor
Also looking to use the ultrasonic sensors for gestures too!

@flooo This guy has a fairly decent walk-through of his build - https://howchoo.com/project/mzu3ndm2otu/building-a-voice-controlled-smart-mirror-with-raspberry-pi-and-jasper
Good News! We’ll be releasing a fresh batch of Raspberry Pi Zero today at 3pm today(14th June (UK time… (in 30 minutes)))
Usually we’d release our PiZero stock each Wednesday, but we have packing staff off tomorrow, so it makes more sense today :)
I’m exactly the same, I have no experience in this
One of the developers here has developed a facial recognition module, so it might be worth checking that out if you’re interested
@cowboysdude Looks great!
I’ve gone 27", bought it second hand for £60. It has built in speakers than I’m hoping to make use of too!
How long did it take for you to do the build?
I’m thinking Alexa, just so I can get it to play music through my prime subscription.
I don’t have a button yet.
I’m not looking to integrate it in to the mirror, just have it running in the background if possible.
I tried installing Jasper last night, but the links on that howchoo site are out of date so I gave up.
Does anyone have any experience of setting up either of these services on your pi?
Would you recommend either of them?
I have only found out of date tutorials for jasper, and not sure if Alexa will work in the UK
Any feedback or comments you have would be appreciated
@RedNax Did you follow anything to get Jasper working?
I found out of date links/tutorials so couldn’t get it working
I have a Samsung TV, when I plug my Pi into it when it’s on standby it turns itself on and on to the correct channel
I’ll test it again tonight to confirm, as I may have got this completely wrong! :cold_sweat:
@Wilco89 yeah, it seems to take up too much real estate on screen.
So a lot of the reflection will be the calendar.
Must be hard to work with he regions available though
@KirAsh4 I’m really looking forward to this being released, it looks great and gives a better view than the default list.
Nice work, and thanks for putting the time in
@mochman Great! Look forward to seeing it.
I’ve just ordered some sensors, so waiting on them to arrive.
Thanks for the module, it’s great!
@MichMich This guy has done it, using your MM2

@KirAsh4 they have announced this too - https://thepihut.com/products/zeroview?mc_cid=24b13590d6&mc_eid=a32a2f3866&utm_campaign=24b13590d6-The_Pi_Hut_Newsletter_Zero&utm_medium=email&utm_source=The Pi Hut - Newsletter&utm_term=0_a4028431b8-24b13590d6-77556261
Could work well with the two way glass and a camera
@KirAsh4 just got this email from Pi Hut
Good News! We’ll be releasing two small(ish) batches of Raspberry Pi Zero today.
One has already launched (9AM BST), and by popular demand, the other will launch at 7PM BST (8th June) - for those of you at work / school :)
I really like that running week of events!!
Much better than the current calendar list
Great work!
Ah OK, if I pick up another I’ll let you know.
Shipping would be an issue from the UK though
