@mykle1 - Yes. Yes, I have. But I’m hoping you have an addiction to catc… er, code 'em all.

I have several. ;-)
I threw together a companion module to MMM-MARS using one of the API’s from your link. For everyone that needs to know the weather on Mars. (Me). I don’t know how reliable the data is going to be but I learned how to make an array (in the node_helper) and push it to the the module.js. I needed to do that in order to rotate the data. So, the simplest of modules but very rewarding because I learned something new.
https://github.com/mykle1/MMM-MARS-Weather

It’s only the very last line that rotates through 8 objects of data. SolDate, season, min and max air temp, atmospheric conditions (Sunny), min and max ground temp, sunrise and sunset at the rover’s locaton. A little css put it right under MARS

I can’t wait for next full moon to hear the wolf audio.
Your wait should be over. MMM-Lunartic just reported a full moon accurately and played the howling wolf sound file as expected.
I forgot I added that and was surprised when the audio played. Fun and pretty cool!
-
Dear @Mykle1,
since yesterday, I do not get the current picture of the moon anymore, although I did not touch the MMM-Lunartic config. If I do, I can display other info - but not the current image.I completely removed and reinstalled the module - but that did not solve the problem. I can open the direct link to the current NASA picture from the .js file - so it does not seem, that my IP is blocked from their side.
Do you have any idea, how to get the current picture of the moon back?

Hi,
Yes, I am aware of this problem and am working to correct it. I asked for help in a topic. Hopefully someone will give me some input on fixing it. Otherwise, it will be some time before I can get that working again. In the meantime, don’t use “current or DayNight” as your image in the config entry
-
This is what I’m up against at the moment. Try contacting the US Navy and telling them their API for moon images is not configured properly. This should be fun.

-
@mykle1 I also had to set an “exception”, as the HTTPS Certificate does not match. Maybe there is an option to ignore this threat.
-
Yeah, I’m going to avoid using an exception, even if I knew how to do that. As you know, (you messaged me) the API started working again and then was gone again for a short period of time. This is encouraging. I think it means they are working on fixing the API. I’m working on a temporary fix but it will take some time. Lets hope they fix the API before I finish the fix.

Hahaha, I’ve heard it two or three days days ago, on last full moon. Awesome!! My sister heard it and she was scared with the wolf sound, hahaha.
-
That’s fantastic. However, there is a problem with the API for the images so the module is having trouble at the moment. I’m looking at some options and @rudibarani has been assisting but I’m still hoping they correct the issue soon.
-
Yes, I realised of that module not working, but at the same time, the MMM-SunRiseSet module doesn’t work too. Maybe is the same problem?

Yes, same API, same problem. I’m hoping they fix the API soon. Otherwise, a work-around might be necessary.

Temporary fix has been issued

I just checked https://api.usno.navy.mil/imagery/moon.png for status. The error has changed (the site is down) which I’ll take as evidence that they are working on the problem. :-)

-
I just wrote an email to the API for Lunartic and SunRiseSet. I got this email address from the contact page for the US Naval Observatory. Would anyone like to help me by sending an email and asking them when the API’s issues will be corrected? I would really appreciate that.

Small fix
Module was not showing the New Moon image.
git pullor install as per the readme -
Hello Myke, I would help you delighted, but I do not know the technical words to specify in that email. Maybe you could write an email with all those details and I (and other users, maybe) could send the same email to that agency to make pressure. I do not know if you understand what I mean.
-
I also do not know the technical terms to express to them. Maybe someone else here can visit the site and describe what the problem is.
I wrote this email to them
Hello,
I am a 60 year old computer hobbyist. I have been using your API to get images and data about the moon and sun. (https://api.usno.navy.mil). Just recently I am receiving an error message when trying to access the API.
This is the error message reported by my browser.
“The owner of api.usno.navy.mil http://api.usno.navy.mil has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.”
Yesterday, the site couldn’t even be reached at all. I’m hoping that you’re doing some maintenance and that this will be resolved soon.
Please advise, and thank you for this wonderful site.
And this was their response
All of the USNO’s web sites have recently been upgraded to https:// protocol,
i.e. https://www.usno.navy.mil. While the transition was not smooth, all of
the links should be working again. Depending on your browser, you may get some
warnings about our certificates. If so, you will need to accept them as valid
manually. You may also wish to install the most recent U.S. Government
Certificate Authorities. Here’s a link to a website that can guide you
through the process:https://knowledge.digicert.com/solution/SO5198.html.
If you continue to have trouble, please let us know.
Thank you for your interest in our data services.

Well, the main problem is that the authority which issued and signed the certificate is untrusted. Therefore browsers block access to this site showing a warning
