I’ve projected that, when finished, my mirror will be in the range of 20-30 lbs. Does anyone know a way that I could mount this in a school dorm, that doesn’t require me nailing anything into a wall? It’s only supposed to be a temporary mount that will last to the end of the year, and it has to be removable without damaging the wall, so I was thinking of using command tape, but the highest rated one is for 16 lbs. I’m not sure if I can combine multiple of those to support that much weight.

You are going to be hard pressed to find something that supports 30 lbs that is non-destructive. I would suggest making a stand for it or put it on a table.

Any tape rating is going to be highly dependent on the cleanliness of the surface prep. I would not trust tape to hold something that you are going to pour a lot of time and money into. Maybe you can hang it from something?

25 cents worth of spackle would fill the hole needed for a lag bolt that would hold the mirror, then a dab of paint. Done.

True in theory. I don’t know where oldversions lives, but in Germany it is illegal to even put a single nail into the wall. The only one who is allowed to do so is the official janitor.
Some years ago a colleague of my wife wanted to mount something to the wall for her classroom. Hey boyfriend said “no big deal” and drilled a small hole into the wall, added a plug and a screw and was done. When the schools principle found out they discussed on a penalty and/or fire her.

Yikes! Then forget my suggestion. I’d hate to be responsible for something like that happening.

I’m glad my son doesn’t go to THAT school. What the hell kind of punishment do you get for a REAL crime over there?

Well, I mean… the school would probably frown upon it, but I also know that they can barely enforce the day-to-day rules, so…

If you’re a student in North Korea then definitely DO NOT do that.

When I said tape, I was thinking of this kind of thing: https://smile.amazon.com/Command-Picture-Hanging-Strips-Damage-Free/dp/B01N0X6SA5/ref=sr_1_27?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1500916733&sr=1-27&keywords=command+strips

Also just totally realized you’re the guy who developed the cocktails module I’m using.

I can’t comment on that tape. I have no experience with it.
