Made my first Magic Mirror using an old Samsung LED 24" monitor, some 3mm Silver See-Thru Mirror Acrylic and of course a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, finished with a DIY frame which didn’t turn out too badly…

It’s pretty slimline at around 1.5" thick! Cant really wall mount it because of the monitor used but I’m happy to just rest it.

The acrylic mirror is pretty decent but it is a bit distorted - I think that’s because it’s a bit of a tight fit in the frame and the frame isn’t 100% true.

I’ve set it up more since so I’ll post a newer photo tomorrow which shows the current setup.

      Thanks!

Sure you can. Give it some thought. :-)

I like the natural grain of the wood, too. :-)

Looks nice! You could use a VESA mount, I am sure your monitor is VESA compatible.

Thanks, I’ll figure something out, need some 90 degree connectors first though :P

Thank you, but it’s not VESA mount :(

@spooke I recently ran into a similar issue. I used a french cleat on the back of my frame. That stuck out just enough to make the frame and the monitor roughly stick out the same distance so the mirror was flat when I hung it.

@idoodler I found out the hard way that the VESA mounts are incorporated into the plastic cover to the monitor. If you remove the back then you lose the VESA mounts.

                  Woooow, that’s very cool!
So you put a battery on the back or does it have to stay on charge all the time?

@spooke sure u can. I’ve wooden frame as well. I bought this https://www.obchodprodilnu.cz/paska-montazni-pozinkovana-1071.html (sure u can buy it in hobby market for about 5 Euro or somthing like that), cut the piece as the width of your frame (u can use 2 pliers and bow few times) use 2 screws to mount to back side fo frame (use the whole in the metal plate), use 2 screws into the wall and “hang” it like a picture… it works - I can send my pic… Instead of wall-screws u can use hooks…
