Hi all,
My name is Robert I’m 30 years old and I live in Berlin. I have a wife and two small children (currently 2 and 4 years old).I work as an aviation design engineer what is in line with my education. Therefore, I have a solid mechanical design background but rather little programming knowledge. The only language I feel somewhat comfortable with is Python. However, I don’t have any experiences with Java, Node.js or Linux but I’m on a steep learning curve now.
As a big fan of Sci-Fi movies and new technologies, when I saw MM for the first time I knew this is something I want to put my hands on it :) When I showed MM pics to my wife, project has been immediately accepted (of course) and I got the full home support :). Currently I have RPi3, Acer monitor waiting to be transformed into MM and wooden planks for a frame. I still don’t have the actual mirror – I’m planning to use silver PVC plate cut to size.
This is not the only project I’m doing but this is the one with the big WOW effect :)
I hope I could be able to contribute to this forum by sharing my experience and maybe help more on the mechanical side of your projects. It’s great to be here and to see how active this community is.
You can find me on GitHub.Thank you all for your support and hard work! Good job!

Take pictures of your progress with your mirror. Then, when you’ve completed it, you can post the pictures and a story to go along with them. Most of all, have fun! :^)

Hi, I’m Jim,
Aaand, I’m a code-aholic…
I was clean since 2003 until about a year ago,
well, now, I’m disabled, can’t work a steady scheduled job, can’t drive.
So, I can no longer be the Psych Nurse I used to be.
48-60 hours a week, with an hour commute each way.
Down to barely being able to leave the house… INSANE!!!Well, now I spend a lot of my time relearning to code, A lot has changed over the past 15 years…
But, I’m kinda getting the gist of things again.Ok, enough about me… Let’s here from some one else from the group!!!

I’ve been reading through the forum getting ready to create something for my Off grid solar place in Ontario Canada.
I built the place (Logs) with help from my uncle. Logs were all put into place by hand and since it was a bit of a distance from hydro I decided to install Solar which I did my self.
I’ve been into HomeAutomation since the 80’s using Windows and some Software I created in VB.net.
I first became aware of Magic mirrors in 1989 but originally though of them as simple things to amuse kids.
That was most likely due to the video. I’ve never been big on Linux but every year I’d load up the newest version to see how it was developing. This spring I jumped on the PI band wagon as the Zero W for $5 was just to tempting to pass up.
I embedded it into an existing X10 PC interface module and been using the Pi to control my Home Automation both here off grid and my city place since.
I retired about a year ago so I spend most of my time here at the log home (at least the months with no snow)
I was previously using a HP Thinclient as my Home automation control center but the PI 3B+ I use here uses much less power and is just as fast. -
Hi All
I’m Richard (when Mum is angry with me!) and Rich generally. I’m 57 and yes mum still gets angry with me! I am married with 2 lovely daughters and live in the best part of England called Cornwall. Most of my life is spent outdoors but recently had a heavy duty op for cancer. It worked and I am clear but left with damaged nerves and bladder. Basically I now work 4 hours a day and I am left with a lot more hours to play!
Came across this project and don’t have a clue what to do or how to install on Ubuntu so will ask the question.
My dream would be to own 5 acres and garden, help young people find jobs and play!

I just want to take the 100th post. :D
My name is Yi.(Yi is a very common family name in Korea.) I’m 45 Y old, born in Korea, living in Frankfurt a.M, Germany currently as an expatriate.
I was a programmer for some decade of years in S.Korea and Japan, but now I’m running a branch of my mother company here.
I was an old-schooled programmer. My first programming was Basic & Fortran on the Z80 machine. I was a little bored with being a small compartment of huge projects, so I quitted from programming and changed to products design. After that, finally business managing is my current job.
However, MM is a little and lovely project which kind of something can still be done individually. I found this project 2 years ago, and it becomes my greatest hobby at this moment.
And this can justify the reason to my wife why I still need an expensive Macbookpro :D -
