            Well ok then! You’re happy? I’m happy! Lucy’s happy! :-)

            Seriously, I’m glad you’re up and running and I’m glad you’re pleased. :thumbsup:

            Now, can you do something simple for me? Can you please tell me:

            1. Your hardware ( Pi3? 4? whatever)
            2. Your microphone (including if it’s USB or analog)
            3. Your OS (if not using a Pi?)
            4. Your response time from the time you issue a command until Lucy responds or you hear the confirmation sound. Instantly? 1 second? 3? 5?

                Happy :)

                1. Pi 4
                2. Mic is Analog plugged in to a sound card (came with mic - Zax Sound)
                3. Buster
                4. 2-3 seconds

                Just a small note - Sometimes I have to unplug sound card and plug back in - Works with either a speaker plugged in to card or using HDMI sound.

                  @TheGeekfather Try using a Omnidirectional mic… like this :
                  https://www.walmart.com/ip/Stereo-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Microphone-Mic-3-5mm-Connector-for-Meeting-Business-Conference-Desktop-Computer/392379431

                  Can’t say it will solve the delay…the Pi’s seem to have that delay…

                    You are absolutely right, CBD. That microphone extends the active listening distance dramatically. Across the room without shouting and it improves the success of the commands.Thanks for recommending it to me. I’m going to get another. :thumbsup:

                    @TheGeekfather

                    Yes, I just finish testing Lucy on a Pi 4, with a usb microphone and with a usb sound card that accepts an analog microphone. In both cases, the latency is pretty annoying. And even though you (and I) were using an analog microphone, the presence of the USB adapter slows things up. The usb microphone by itself was just as slow.

                    Now, take that same analog microphone and use it on a 12+ year old laptop board running ubuntu and MM with Lucy. The response is measured in milliseconds. It’s fantastic!

                      @Mykle1 I added a few modules to Hello-Lucy following your easy instructions. Not sure if this is the best way to contact you with the info but just following through with the last step in your instructions which is to tell you the command and module name :)

                      Here is a diff of my sentences.json and yours:

                      As you can see, I added support for the following modules:
                      MMM-iFrame, mmm-hue-lights, MMM-NetworkScanner, MMM-Solar, and MMM-stocks

                      I also modified your existing support for the STATS and WEATHER commands, altering them to act upon different modules.

                      Thanks for the really cool module and easy instructions to extend!

                        You’re welcome. I tried to make the installation instructions as clear as possible. You have just confirmed that for me, so thank you.

                        I went ahead and added your modifications to the repo so that they now work by default for anyone that cares to use Lucy.

                        Many thanks!

                          Hello-Lucy.

                          Minor Update

                          Add 4 more modules to the defaults:

                          • MMM-EveryNews
                          • MMM-MercuryInRetrograde
                          • MMM-PLOW
                          • MMM-WeatherOrNot

                          Bringing the total of modules that now work by default to 58

                            I have installed Hello Lucy.
                            My microphone and speakers are working correctly.
                            And Hello Lucy logo also appears on the magic mirror screen,But when I give command like Hello Lucy it won’t respond.
                            Only temperature module is showing and not working.
                            I’m using Raspberry pi 3 B plus model.

                              So, Hello-Lucy does not show either? You should see a microphone icon with the words “Say, Hello Lucy” next to it.

                              Did you complete all 3 installation steps in the readme?

                              Using the default config? You would still need to install those modules. Using other than the default modules you would have to follow the directions in the “How to add modules to Hello-Lucy” file included in the clone of Lucy AND install those modules. Have you done that?

                              What is the result of arecord -l in your terminal? (That’s a lower case L)

                              Lastly, post your config entry for Hello-Lucy in a code block so I can see it. All modules in the config must be installed separately for Lucy to control them. This is one of mine:

                              {
                                          disabled: false,
                                          module: "Hello-Lucy",
                                          position: "top_center",
                                          config: {
                                              keyword: 'HELLO LUCY', // keyword to activate listening for a command/sentence
                                              timeout: 15, // timeout listening for a command/sentence
                                              standByMethod: 'DPMS', // 'DPMS' = anything else than RPi or 'PI'
                                              microphone: "0,0", // run "arecord -l" card # and device # mine is "0,0"

                                  I have installed Hello Lucy.
                                  My microphone and speakers are working correctly.
                                  And Hello Lucy logo also appears on the magic mirror screen,But when I give command like Hello Lucy it won’t respond.
                                  Only temperature module is showing and not working.
                                  I’m using Raspberry pi 3 B plus model.

                                    How would I be able to add the ability to hide all modules if the trigger word isn’t spoken after a determined amount of time, say 2 minutes? Then I can issue the voice command to show all modules to wake it.

                                    I’ve tried using a pi-camera to detect motion to turn on the screen and turn off the screen, but i get the “HDMI not connected” symbol and the pi-camera is flaky where it doesn’t always work. I’ve tried multiple modules for the camera and don’t like any of them, as they can create multiple instance of the camera opening and then cause it lock up. I like how you can hide all modules to blank screen by voice command without disconnecting the HDMI output. until I can figure out a way to do this with motion, I’d like to be able to do this automatically, like a time-out.

                                    I’ve tried-MMM-NotificationTrigger to try to fire the HIDE_MODULE notification in your code, but I have not successfully found a decent notification trigger to make it happen. If i get a USB Webcam in the future maybe i can use motion as a trigger to fire the notification, but like I said, i haven’t had luck using motion on the pi-cam so i doubt i would on a webcam.

                                    Also for page navigation, I like to use MMM-Carousel by shbatm, the navigation buttons to go from one page to the other will be instrumental to when I add touch ability to my mirror, so i set up Hello-Lucy with just one page showing MMM-Carousel, is there anyway to incorporate voice activation on Hello-Lucy to work with changing the pages on MMM-Carousel? I think they are called slides on MMM-Carousel.

                                      @rrussis82 i have a module, MMM-SleepWake that uses module hiding to darken the screen… (all of my TV’s have the dreaded no signal problem).

                                      it requires some out of MM source (external) to signal motion or not…

                                      I use the github motion project with my webcams to get that external to MM event info
                                      sudo apt-get install motion

                                      edit the /etc/motion/motion.conf
                                      and set the external start/stop exits to trigger the script I provide to inform my module of the motion
                                      (all in the instructions of the module)

                                      motion project can also record video, pictures and a lot more… with all kinds of config for what motion means
                                      (how long from end of actual motion before signal, it is motion if the room lights are turned on and there is a sudden flash of light for the camera… etc.etc…)
                                      I didn’t want to write all that (and based on the audience here, config is important)…

                                      I have not tried motion with the pi camera…

                                        Have you followed all the instructions in the readme? There is a file just for setting up your microphone.

                                          Hello-Lucy will do pages without Carousel.

                                          In any event, I’ve put further development of Lucy on a shelf.
