      F11 seems to be a got hint, even it comes from @Mykle1 or @sdetweil.

      Will try it this evening - thanks!

        For me setup running MagicMirror on Windows 10 worked by:

        • cloning the repository
        • then edit package.json by changing following line:
          "scripts": {
            "start": "./run-start.sh",

        to:

          "scripts": {
            "start": "bash ./run-start.sh",

        Simple change, works in every location on my PC.

              I’m using Windows 10 and got the previous message as well. Changing to “run-start.sh” just opens the file with my text editor. I’m missing something.

                      I’ve started this installation process from 3 years ago on an old Acer laptop running Windows 10. It’s installing MM2 right now. Just wondering…have the walkthrough steps/commands changed in the intervening 3 years in any way that I need to know? I scanned the 85 posts and didn’t see any, but I could have missed it/them. Thanks! And, I’m really glad this topic is still alive!

                          @sdetweil Perfect timing…thanks! I was trying “npm start” and “npm serveronly” with no luck. I’ll give it a go.

                            Just for clarity, I enter (without starting/ending quotes), npm “start”:“node_modules/.bin/electron js/electron.js”???

                              @dwburger you have to change the “start”: line in package.json to the text I provided

                                        @Mykle1 May I butt in here. I was the one who started the question. I had to change the “start:” string in the package.json file to:

                                        “start”:“node_modules/.bin/electron js/electron.js”

                                        As Sam instructed. Once I did that, the “npm start” command got my MM2 running.

                                        Thanks, BTW, for creating the walkthrough. I’m thrilled to have MM2 running on my old Acer laptop!

                                          Oh, I thought perhaps something in the tutorial was wrong. I did not know that MM changed in a way that caused the tutorial to fail. :-(

                                          Thanks, BTW, for creating the walkthrough. I’m thrilled to have MM2 running on my old Acer laptop!

                                          You’re welcome. When I wrote this I was thrilled as well and have since moved to strictly laptop boards, However, I moved from Windows to ubuntu and I’ve never been happier. MM loves linux (ubuntu) and runs beautifully under it, without jumping through any hoops for Windows. It also uses far less resources than Windows. Consider it. You won’t be sorry.

                                          And here it is.

                                            @Mykle1 I will definitely take a look at Ubuntu. I got here since 1 of my 2 MM2 running with RPi isn’t stable enough and I’ve run out of things to try. I also have an old MacMini that I’m going to try. Thanks for the encouragement!
