UPDATE: there is a command window that papers on the boot up screen it does not leave i connected keyboard/mouse to it and can enter commands like a terminal window although pm2start will not work and npm start gives the following err (note i copied this by hand so there may be slight imperfections)
npm ERR! code ENOENT
npm ERR! sysca11 open
npm ERR! path /home/pi/package . json
npm ERR! errno -2
npm ERR! enoent no such file or directory, open ‘/home/pi/package . jason’
npm ERR! enoent This is related to npm not being able to find a file.

/home/pi/
u are not in the MagicMirror folder for npm start
and its pm2 start (notice the space)
pm2 status will show u the pm2 currently managed apps
-
@sdetweil i did that and it gave me the following err:
[PM2] spawning PM2 daemon with pm2 _home=/home/pi.pm2
[PM2] PM2 successfully daemonized
[PM2] [ERROR] Script not found: /home/pi/MagicMirror/mm.sh -

ok, you used some old instructions, cause the file was moved to the installers folder a long time ago…
pm2 status
pm2 delete xx
where xx is the number of the line in the status (usually 0)
or the name in the linepm2 save
then use my script to fixup pm2
see https://github.com/sdetweil/MagicMirror_scriptsthe last command listed, fixuppm2.sh is the one u want to copy/paste to your terminal window
-
@sdetweil how do i use your script?
-
@beth said in MM2 not loading text:
how do i use your script?
it says
fixuppm2.sh, cut/paste this line into the terminal window on your device
-
@sdetweil also i did the command and it said to type pm2 save so i did (i don’t remember the txt) then it gave me a err and said if i want to force save to type pm2 save --force i did that and now when i plug in the pi after showing the mm2 screen it just goes to a black screen
-
@beth this is the line you copy/pasted
bash -c "$(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts/master/fixuppm2.sh)"
right?
u don’t need to git clone this repo, just copy/paste the line
-
@beth black screen is another problem… (but pm2 launched MM on boot, so pm2 is ok)
typically it means a library needed by one of the MM modules you are using is missing
(we removed some dead libraries, in 2.16 and 2.17, but many modules didn’t document needing them, so oops…)SO, you need to look at the logs
minimize MM, alt-spacebar, n
then open a terminal window
ctrl-alt-t
then type
pm2 logs – lines=100
and look for module not found
we know about
