Hello-Lucy

You are absolutely right, CBD. That microphone extends the active listening distance dramatically. Across the room without shouting and it improves the success of the commands.Thanks for recommending it to me. I’m going to get another. :thumbsup:
Yes, I just finish testing Lucy on a Pi 4, with a usb microphone and with a usb sound card that accepts an analog microphone. In both cases, the latency is pretty annoying. And even though you (and I) were using an analog microphone, the presence of the USB adapter slows things up. The usb microphone by itself was just as slow.
Now, take that same analog microphone and use it on a 12+ year old laptop board running ubuntu and MM with Lucy. The response is measured in milliseconds. It’s fantastic!

@Mykle1 I added a few modules to Hello-Lucy following your easy instructions. Not sure if this is the best way to contact you with the info but just following through with the last step in your instructions which is to tell you the command and module name :)
Here is a diff of my sentences.json and yours:
80,81d79 < "HIDE IFRAME", < "SHOW IFRAME", 86,87d83 < "HIDE LIGHTS", < "SHOW LIGHTS", 92,93d87 < "HIDE NETWORK", < "SHOW NETWORK", 108,109d101 < "HIDE SOLAR", < "SHOW SOLAR", 116,117d107 < "HIDE STOCKS", < "SHOW STOCKS",And a diff of my checkCommands.json and yours:
7,21d6 < ["SHOW","IFRAME","","","true","MMM-iFrame",""], < ["HIDE","IFRAME","","","false","MMM-iFrame",""], < < ["SHOW","LIGHTS","","","true","mmm-hue-lights",""], < ["HIDE","LIGHTS","","","false","mmm-hue-lights",""], < < ["SHOW","NETWORK","","","true","MMM-NetworkScanner",""], < ["HIDE","NETWORK","","","false","MMM-NetworkScanner",""], < < ["SHOW","SOLAR","","","true","MMM-Solar",""], < ["HIDE","SOLAR","","","false","MMM-Solar",""], < < ["SHOW","STOCKS","","","true","MMM-stocks",""], < ["HIDE","STOCKS","","","false","MMM-stocks",""], < 124,125c109,110 < ["SHOW","STATS","","","true","MMM-SystemStats",""], < ["HIDE","STATS","","","false","MMM-SystemStats",""], --- > ["SHOW","STATS","","","true","MMM-PC-Stats",""], > ["HIDE","STATS","","","false","MMM-PC-Stats",""], 145,148c130,133 < ["SHOW","WEATHER","","","true","currentweather",""], < ["HIDE","WEATHER","","","false","currentweather",""], < ["SHOW","WEATHER","","","true","weatherforecast",""], < ["HIDE","WEATHER","","","false","weatherforecast",""] --- > ["SHOW","WEATHER","","","true","MMM-BMW-DS",""], > ["HIDE","WEATHER","","","false","MMM-BMW-DS",""], > ["SHOW","WEATHER","","","true","MMM-NOAA3",""], > ["HIDE","WEATHER","","","false","MMM-NOAA3",""]As you can see, I added support for the following modules:
MMM-iFrame, mmm-hue-lights, MMM-NetworkScanner, MMM-Solar, and MMM-stocksI also modified your existing support for the STATS and WEATHER commands, altering them to act upon different modules.
Thanks for the really cool module and easy instructions to extend!

You’re welcome. I tried to make the installation instructions as clear as possible. You have just confirmed that for me, so thank you.
I went ahead and added your modifications to the repo so that they now work by default for anyone that cares to use Lucy.
Many thanks!
-
Hello-Lucy.
Minor Update
Add 4 more modules to the defaults:
- MMM-EveryNews
- MMM-MercuryInRetrograde
- MMM-PLOW
- MMM-WeatherOrNot
Bringing the total of modules that now work by default to 58

@Mykle1
I have installed Hello Lucy.
My microphone and speakers are working correctly.
And Hello Lucy logo also appears on the magic mirror screen,But when I give command like Hello Lucy it won’t respond.
Only temperature module is showing and not working.
I’m using Raspberry pi 3 B plus model. -
So, Hello-Lucy does not show either? You should see a microphone icon with the words “Say, Hello Lucy” next to it.
Did you complete all 3 installation steps in the readme?
Using the default config? You would still need to install those modules. Using other than the default modules you would have to follow the directions in the “How to add modules to Hello-Lucy” file included in the clone of Lucy AND install those modules. Have you done that?
What is the result of
arecord -lin your terminal? (That’s a lower case L)Lastly, post your config entry for Hello-Lucy in a code block so I can see it. All modules in the config must be installed separately for Lucy to control them. This is one of mine:
{ disabled: false, module: "Hello-Lucy", position: "top_center", config: { keyword: 'HELLO LUCY', // keyword to activate listening for a command/sentence timeout: 15, // timeout listening for a command/sentence standByMethod: 'DPMS', // 'DPMS' = anything else than RPi or 'PI' microphone: "0,0", // run "arecord -l" card # and device # mine is "0,0" sounds: ["1.mp3", "11.mp3", "a.mp3", "best.mp3", "c.mp3", "1.mp3", "listening.mp3", "me2.mp3", "nice.mp3", "weather.mp3"], // welcome sound at startup. How would I be able to add the ability to hide all modules if the trigger word isn’t spoken after a determined amount of time, say 2 minutes? Then I can issue the voice command to show all modules to wake it.
I’ve tried using a pi-camera to detect motion to turn on the screen and turn off the screen, but i get the “HDMI not connected” symbol and the pi-camera is flaky where it doesn’t always work. I’ve tried multiple modules for the camera and don’t like any of them, as they can create multiple instance of the camera opening and then cause it lock up. I like how you can hide all modules to blank screen by voice command without disconnecting the HDMI output. until I can figure out a way to do this with motion, I’d like to be able to do this automatically, like a time-out.
I’ve tried-MMM-NotificationTrigger to try to fire the HIDE_MODULE notification in your code, but I have not successfully found a decent notification trigger to make it happen. If i get a USB Webcam in the future maybe i can use motion as a trigger to fire the notification, but like I said, i haven’t had luck using motion on the pi-cam so i doubt i would on a webcam.
Also for page navigation, I like to use MMM-Carousel by shbatm, the navigation buttons to go from one page to the other will be instrumental to when I add touch ability to my mirror, so i set up Hello-Lucy with just one page showing MMM-Carousel, is there anyway to incorporate voice activation on Hello-Lucy to work with changing the pages on MMM-Carousel? I think they are called slides on MMM-Carousel.

@rrussis82 i have a module, MMM-SleepWake that uses module hiding to darken the screen… (all of my TV’s have the dreaded no signal problem).
it requires some out of MM source (external) to signal motion or not…
I use the github motion project with my webcams to get that external to MM event info
sudo apt-get install motionedit the /etc/motion/motion.conf
and set the external start/stop exits to trigger the script I provide to inform my module of the motion
(all in the instructions of the module)motion project can also record video, pictures and a lot more… with all kinds of config for what motion means
(how long from end of actual motion before signal, it is motion if the room lights are turned on and there is a sudden flash of light for the camera… etc.etc…)
I didn’t want to write all that (and based on the audience here, config is important)…I have not tried motion with the pi camera…

Have you followed all the instructions in the readme? There is a file just for setting up your microphone.

@rrussis82 said in Hello-Lucy:
so i set up Hello-Lucy with just one page showing MMM-Carousel
Hello-Lucy will do pages without Carousel.
In any event, I’ve put further development of Lucy on a shelf.
-
@sdetweil Tried it, too confusing.
-
@rrussis82 if u have time and are willing, I would be interested in what you found difficult and try to find ways to make it easier. we can work thru email or chat…
thank you for your consideration -

Hello Lucy!

That poor kid having to be related to you LOL I hope she doesn’t need therapy later in life
-
Haha!
-
Hey @Mykle1 first off great module, but I’m having a little difficulty, A ) I have no video at all now, B ) the mic works but constantly shows error, and C ) so far MMM-BMW-CC hides and shows but stays a loading climacell data. Any advice/pointers??
-
I’m confused a bit
-
You have no video at all? I’m not sure what that means.
-
I’ve never seen Lucy work when the microphone reports ‘error’.
-
BMW-CC sounds like a different issue.
Start MM using
npm start devand report any errors in red after choosing the ‘Console’ tab in the window that opens.Also, paste your config entry for BMW-CC (in a code block) here so I can look at it.

@Mykle1
1 there is no HDMI output of anything not raspbian, not the magic mirror, nothing, it used to default to the magic mirror dashboard monitor receives signal but is black- Now even though I’ve changed nothing, my magic mirror wont show any modules just loads a black page
3.```
{ disabled: false, module: "MMM-BMW-CC", position: "bottom_bar", // designed for bottom_bar(best) thirds should be good too config: { apiKey: "XXX_Santized_XXX", // Get at https://www.climacell.co/weather-api/pricing/ ownTitle: "Current Conditions", tempUnits: "us", // us = F or si = C lat: '39.321940', // Your latitude lon: '-74.604440', // Your longitude css: "1", // 1-6 playSounds: "no", useHeader: false, // true if you want a header header: "Your header", maxWidth: "100%", updateInterval: 5 * 60 * 1000, }},
