Unable to install dependencies, NPM install not working
-
@MichMich I’m running a Pi 1 so the installer isn’t compatible. I ran through the manual instructions and used apt-get for my Node. (Bear with me as I’m not too hot on Linux. I worked on CentOS servers for a while a few years ago but that’s about it)
-
maybe us pi firmware is old ?
cause i can’t use ‘sudo rpi update’
command not found -
@geeflaxx I’ve tried it on a fresh install of Jessie, but you’re right, I don’t have rpi-update either. Come to think of it, I did install Jessie Lite rather than the full verison. Not sure what exactly is stripped out of the Lite version and if it’s enough to make a difference to this?
-
Did you try
sudo apt-get install rpi-updateto install rpi-updat before running it? -

hi guys,
i have actually the same problem.
i started with a fresh version of jessie with pixel and followed the setup tutorial mentioned above.
with update upgrade a new kernel was installed.
i also recognized that there have been a few lines telling me that “electron” has now a new name…maybe this could be some reason?electron-quick-start is also not working!!
-
oh i wanted to use ‘sudo rpi update’
look on my second command i wanted to install iti forget remove the apt-get …
but ‘sudo rpi update’ is still not working
electron is the problem
-
BRO I GOT IT !!!
sudo apt-get upgrade
and than npm install npm install
I LOVE YOU ALL !
-
where exactly did you run npm install?
-

-
@PaulB How did you fix the problem?
-
@cpramhofer I did everything from the scratch :-D
- Reformation the SD Card
- Copying the Software to the SD Card.
- Installing everything
- Installing the MM2 Software via the link on Michaels website
–> Conclusion: No no problem more :D
-
i want to say that via ssh it comes the problem
-
Reinstalled the OS (Raspbian 8.0) and followed @KirAsh4 's install posts. Still fail at the electron install. Has anyone found a solution?
-
Could one of the advanced pro users here try a fresh install and see if they hit the same problems most are experiencing here?
I’ve been trying to install Node from the tarball but the make install was running for hours and still verbosely outputting as though it was doing things…
-
I will try this weekend. Haven’t had much free time lately.

WHAT? Free time… what’s this ‘free time’ thing of which you speak? Hahahahahaha

here is what i meant bevor:
this warning comes during the exectution of the install script.
npm WARN deprecated electron-prebuilt@1.3.8: electron-prebuilt has been renamed to electron. For more details, see http://electron.atom.io/blog/2016/08/16/npm-install-electron
my process:
- blank sd card
- copy image of RASPBIAN JESSIE LITE 2016-09-23
- setup the Pi with Wlan/Ip
- update/upgrade
but as far as i can see this is an electron issue as some others also face this problems.
