      Thanks for your posts. At first I was skeptical about the idea of gluing a mirror on silicone, but now I want to use your design.

          Hi,
          Thank you for all this info.
          I am at the very start of my magic mirror journey and came across you mirror which is simply fantastic.
          I noticed you had metal LED buttons on the side of your frame which I would like to install one in mine for powering opn/off.
          Having looked at button tutorials I see most are just 2 jumper wires to the GIPO is this the same for your buttons?
          How is the LED powered?

          thanks!
          Vicki

            Hi,
            please forgive the late reply. It slipped through.

            I use these buttons: https://smile.amazon.de/gp/product/B00JSEX1A0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

            These have separate connections for “nomaly closed” NC and “normaly open” NO. And there are also the connections for the button LED.

            But I did not connect the LEDs. Otherwise, besides the LED of the toothbrush and the LED of the mouthwash and the LED of the razor and … another LED would burn. Then I could slowly save the ceiling lighting in the bathroom :-)

            Regards

              Hi Josef,
              Looks very impressive. Which source do you use for the wooden frame?
              Thanks a lot

                Hi @PeterKatana,
                What do you mean by source?
                The frame is made of beech wood. You can buy it from a wood dealer or carpenter. I have taken solid wood shelf savior made of beech from the hardware store. These are glued rod-wise and therefore torsion-resistant.

                  Hi Josef,
                  thanks for the recommendation. I will search here for a carpenter. A miter saw I should have. Before I lived in Aschheim, that was easier. Now I am jobwise in Göppingen. Will search around.
                  I am curious for your next project you announced.

                    Hallo @PeterKatana,

                      Your mirror looks amazing, but I am wondering. How is the electronics holding up, being put in a bathroom with alot of moisture? I cant see you did anything extra to keep moisture out of the mirror?

                        Hi @SuneRadich ,
                        all electrical connections are clamped together in junction boxes for damp locations. The Raspberry Pi is also in such a box. Only the connections of the screen are in their original box, which in my view is not specially protected against moisture.
                        So far, there have been no problems and even if you remove the mirror, you won’t see anything scorched or similar damage.

                                    Danke für Deine Einschätzung !

                                      could I ask you how do you rotate the imageod the screen in portrait?
                                      I am havin some difficulty to let’s happen in my screen. It goes to blue screen (of course not Windows blue screen).

                                        @ernade Hi, try this in custom.css file:

                                        body {
                                        margin: 0;
                                        position: absolute;
                                        transform: rotate(90deg);
                                        transform-origin: bottom left;
                                        width: 100vh;
                                        height: 100vw;
                                        object-fit: cover;
                                        top: -100vw;
                                        visibility: visible;
                                        }

                                        or try this:
                                        Most mirrors tend to be portrait, whereas screens are normally landscape. Normally we could make some changes to /boot/config.txt to easily rotate the screen, but with Raspberry Pi 4’s fancy new graphics support, this is no longer possible. To rotate your display 90º so it fits your mirror, open a Terminal and enter the following:
                                        /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
                                        Now add this line to the end of the file:
                                        @xrandr --output HDMI-2 --rotate right
                                        Save the file (CTRL+X) and reboot. Your display should now be portrait.

                                            Hi @spitzlbergerj ,

                                            kann ich Dich einmal um Rat fragen ? Du hast ja hier im Forum schon einiges gesehen und einige Projekte hinter Dir. Ich habe seinerzeit einen MM mit einem relativ großen Monitor geplant. Dummerweise den Spiegel etwas zu klein bestellt (Ich wollte einen IR Frame Rahmen mit einbauen). So, jetzt neuen Spiegel bestellt. Hatte aber den Monitor ohne Gehäuse bereits an der Wand hängen (Vesa Mount). Meine Frau war begeistert, weil er so viele interessante Dinge angezeigt hat. Dummerweise hatte aber das LCD Panel dadurch, das ich das Gehäuse (oder zumindest das Cover) entfernt hatte, keinen richtigen Halt. nach 2-3 Wochen fing das LCD Panel sich an zu bewegen auf dem Monitor. Das LCD Panel selber ist ja nur eine sehr dünne Platte. Dahinter liegt dann das gesamte Backlight. Jetzt habe ich auf dem Panel eine Menge bunter Streifen, die wahrscheilich daher entstanden sind, das es verrutscht ist auf dem Backlight Panel. Hast Du mit so etwas Erfahrung. Ich würde halt bevor ich einen neuen Monitor kaufe, versuche den alten zu retten. Danke und Vg Peter
