    • RE: Do not use generic power supply on Raspberry Pi4

      As with anything, you get what you pay for. Mine run off canakit power supplies. Works extremely well.

      @uros76 The icons are straight from font awesome, and part of the base package, from what I understand. Not having icons might be indicative of a weak connection to the 'net.

      @Fozi Oooh, good call. Strong power is good power. Part of the reason I upgraded to Pi4’s for most everything, honestly. Got tired of the weak power supplies on the old USB spec, so…

    • RE: Alert Module help

      I’m curious if an alert from another program would cause the same garbage…

      Most install I’ve seen don’t have the “position” indicator in use, matter of fact, all I have in mine is this:

      	{
      		module: "alert",
      	},

      This makes the alert app pop up over the screen if it’s triggered.

      If you have something else installed to trigger alerts manually, you could then use their instructions to test if alerts come up as designed. MMM-Remote-control is great for this (and other stuff too)

    • RE: Need help with sdetweil script

      @sdetweil would know the most - but it’s designed to run through and check updates - but I believe it’s only going to do that if the main system is updated by default. I don’t have the link handy, but there is a topic where he and I and others discuss the use of his scripts in detail.

    • RE: [MMM-RTSPStream] - Video Streaming from Live Feeds & Security Cameras

      @zzricezz burn in is mostly a non-issue in modern screens, however, I severely doubt a stream isn’t gonna do anything like that, unless you’re streaming a closet… there’s enough movement on most streams that even things that are locked into place move around (due to encoding bugs, etc)

      @evroom “convention” isn’t the right word here, perhaps. I’m almost leaning to “peer pressure” perhaps? Doing it because it seems everyone else is? 🤣🤣🤣

    • RE: Config Error

      @sdetweil That’s effectively what I said… I’m working from within the naming conventions typically used by module authors, including myself, and trying to stress that case is important, because if you come from a world where it’s not (DOS/Windows, perhaps?) it takes some getting used to.

      bottom line, Welcome_message is not the same as welcome_message

      one of the biggest tips I can give you is to throw out everything you know about capitalization…
      Welcome_message is different from welcome_message

      Most of the time, with RARE exception, the initial letter is lowercase. javacriptIsWeird

    • RE: Transparent glass in front of Acrylic Sheet to hold it together ?

      If you’ve got the sheet the right size, you shouldn’t need anything - the frame on top would do the job of holding it in place if built correctly. See standard woodworking videos on youtube for frame building ideas, or hit up a frame shop.

      @sdetweil Good to note that it don’t always work, FWIW… like it don’t help my situation, but, I only have to restart once in a great while now, so, I don’t see it nearly as much… now if I could get OMX to stop freezing so I don’t have to restart it every half hour (😭😭😭 not a magic mirror problem, Running it on top of MM to avoid RTSPStream bugs)

      @lavolp3 that’s not working, just get NaN… I think that’s because the string’s already got the “°C” at that point.

      On another point, how do you link back to the code and highlight like that?

    • RE: MMM-SystemStats (cpu temp/load, fre ram ...)

      @BenRoe Hey, ben - love your module - would like to see a “quick” change if possible. Could you update the module to show both imperial and metric for CPU temp? This is only needed because I’m in a backwards country that hasn’t adopted sensable measurements, and it would be nice to have both temps on screen at the same time, so I can compare easily with others on how cool my system is.

      Thanks!

    • RE: Raspberry Pi4 Power Supply Help

      Kinda off topic here, but, the Raspbi-4 runs at 3Amps, or using 5 volts, around 12 watts.

      Make your own decision from there. I personally would get a recommended power block, but, that’s just me.

      It’s confirmed that the NFL isn’t bringing the old data sources back up at all. People in the know are “hoping something’s put in place” by season, but it will be different, and will not be compatible… Word is from those people it’s likely to be pay, too.
