@johnnyboy Because you like hearing from me and like dropping my name You know, if you build a frame that extends past the edge of the box that will contain the monitor, you can effectively hide the joystick and not have to johnnyboy around with the wiring. :wink: Now, looking at your pictures closely, (I counted the 8 wires and the 8 pins) I would say that each of the eight wires of the harness connect to only one pin each via the clip connector on both the monitor circuit board and the joystick circuit board. With that, and IMHO, I would say that you can lengthen each wire, being careful to match the gauge of the wire as closely as possible. Also, being careful to splice the correct wires to each other. I would use shrinkwrap/crimp connectors for the splicing for proper connection and insulation. Seeing as you’ll only be extending these wires a few inches (from what I can see) you won’t encounter any resistance problems or degradation in performance of the joystick. Peace bro . . .

@theusu5k The Raspian.org is working on an option to install and boot from USB. Actually last i know is in beta development.

I’ve used this: http://www.helbig.be/images/pages/Blog/Producten/01.JPG mount one on your mirror, one on the wall. It divides the weight evenly over every anchor point and you can use more than two screws to hang your mirror on. (can be usefull if your mirror is heavy and the material of your wall can’t support too much weight)

Hello guys, I’m create my first magic mirror. I’ve find in the 3rd party module list a nice module with the name “MMM-temp-ds18b20”. My problem is that I don’t know how I can realize this. Because to practise this nice idea I need some wireless modules which send the temperature information to the Raspberry Pi. Maybe someone of you has do this in former times and can gave me some tips? @Manmachine Thank you. I have been looking at the product they offer for a long time. It was the best i’ve found in denmark but I wasnt sure if it was good enough. So nice you hear it is working for you. Then I will order one as well.

You will most often get bleedthrough, but how much really depends on your screen. You could look through the posts in the show your mirror section. Here you will be able to find some pictures where you can see the bleedthrough and decide for yourself if you can live with that :)

@strawberry-3.141 Thanks! In person you can only see that it’s foil if you get very close. So nobody has noticed it yet :)

@vazma I have 3%, thats a bit low. I believe that 15-25% should be acceptable enough for normal room conditions and still not getting to much bleed from the monitors backlight. 40%+ would be for the really bright rooms and sunny outdoor conditions.
