When I started the Magic Mirror project over 2 years ago, I could have never guessed that it would become such a widely used concept. Not only did many of you built and improve my proof of concept, you also showed me the power and excitement of open source projects.
I’m very grateful that @paviro took the time to set up this awesome place for sharing ideas, giving and getting support, and showing of your version of the MagicMirror.
Together we can make MagicMirror even better, and i’m looking forward to working together with all of you!
Keep up the good work!
Just a quick overview of some of the features supported by this forum.
You can format your posts by using Markdown, see commonmark.org for how to use it.
Syntax Highlighting is also supported.
const test = "Hello world!";
Pushbullet & Two-Factor Authentication
Go to your user profile and press the blue menu button.
Pushbullet will send notifications directly to your phone, so you never miss a post you subscribed to. Two-Factor Authentication can further secure your account from unwanted access.
When opening a new thread you can add a poll to your post, just hit the button in the editor. The poll will be added to the top of your post.
You can quickly link to a GitHub repository or user account by using [ card : MichMich / MagicMirror ] or [ card : paviro ] (you have to remove the spaces for it to work).
Reference other users
Use the @ sign to reference another user.
Hello, @MichMich! If you hover over a linked name, you get some infos about the user. If you tap the blue menu button in the appearing window you can see, there is also a chat you can use to talk to a user directly, of course you also find that option on the users profile page.
That’s about it for now. Have fun using the forum and of course working on your mirror!
We are very sorry for the outage. I had to reboot the server, problem is it never came back online. We now have migrated the forum to a dedicated server only used for magicmirror.builders sadly we still don’t have access to the old one which is why we decided to use a backup from last night so we can get the forum up again as quickly as possible, because of that any post published after the last backup (again last night) is sadly gone…
If you signed up in that period we kindly ask you to register again. We will do anything in our power to make sure this does not happen again…
Cheers and sorry again,
Update: The old server came back online and we restored the database! All posts and new users are now back
As a little bonus the forum might be faster now, because of the following reasons:
We now use nginx to serve static content instead of using nodebb
We use Redis to store session data (faster than MongoDB)
