I hate to be the naysayer, but do remember that depending on your country you may not be able to sell Magic Mirrors as a business. The patent holder on the technology is a Japanese company, I believe. You can make them for personal use & gifts but you can’t sell them as a business without paying them royalties. @MichMich is probably the best person to ask about such things as I believe he went down the rabbit hole and looked into it.

Now, if you want tips on how to save money on your personal mirrors, that’s a great idea. I have found that careful browsing of thrift stores, pawn shops, government auctions and charity retail outlets (Habit For Humanity, Salvation Army, etc.) is a good place to get cheap (if older) LCDs.

I used 3M vinyl wrap for the black of mine, no glue just apply no air gap easy to work with and for giving if you make a mistake, UV treated as well, your going to need three people to lift that beast! I would put the monitor on the back of the frame 🖼 this way it limits the monitor reflecting on its self and dust getting between the monitor and glass, I went for mirror view 50/50 too. I did have plans to recess mine but it would have been in a purpose made area, but settled on the stairs landing and that is all block work but makes the sunlight bounce all the way down the stairs, so it’s doing more than I could have hoped as well as a feature.

Curious to know what option you went for if any as I am in the same position and by co-incidence bought the same touchscreen monitor. Did you try the one-way mirror vinyl or are you looking at overlay frame?

sendNotification(“some_identifier_string”, infomation_data_specific_to_this_identifier)

so, what message happens when voice says ‘Selfie’??? u send that same message

What code is listening for ‘Selfie’?? is it a MagicMirror module (like MMM-Hotword)? Or a python script?

Hmmm… For me it works.
Check ~/Library/LaunchAgents/directory whether exists or not.
You can save your xml (under Template) totarget path by manual then execute command list

Usually manual installation works without problem on mac. I mainly use my MBP as dev-machine for all modules(except some GPIO specific modules)

The Operating System is linux.
MagicMirror is just an application that runs on linux.
The application itself is electron, which It’s basically just a web browser.
So, when you look at your mirror, you are just looking at a webpage with a bunch of components.
Those components are written in JavaScript.

Magic mirror or smart mirror is a mirror that can display information. The idea is quite simple, it’s a display behind a interrogation window. It will look like a normal mirror but when the display produces light it will be visible through the mirror. Ideally powered by a raspberry pi browser.

long story short,

i built a mirror for my wife for xmas, but im struggling trying to get all of the modules working that i would like. i would like it if some one could help me get these sorted,

these are the modules i would like to use

alexa
assistant (for voice control)
selfie
motion detection (with 8mp pi camera)
also i would like to add a voice control to be able to turn on some embeded LEDs that i have in the frame.

the frame i have built is made out of solid maple, and has a 42 inch monitor behind it.

is there any one who is interested in this?

Try tried an app two years ago but I didn’t remember the name. It was the best website I used it for your query also. You can download songs from soundcloud using something like this soundcloud downloader Just paste in the URL of the soundcloud song. And you get a mp3 download.

Currently, MMM-TTS and MMM-GoogleTTS can change text to composed voice. both modules can be activated by notification.

Default calendar module cannot response on demand, however it can broadcast all events when be refreshed. Maybe you can make your own module to receive and store events then use.

MMM-CalendarExt2 also has same feature but somewhat different with MMM-CalendarExt

MMM-NotificationTrigger can relay and chain notifications between modules. If you need to translate notification between modules you could use this module together.

So It could be done by combination of above modules with PIR related module(MMM-PIR-Sensor??).
