    Hi,

I think MMM-NOAA3 is the best looking weather module, but I have noticed it’s using the current weather. When getting ready early in the morning I already know it’s currently cold and dark so would like to know what the days weather I should prepare for, take a brolly or dress for heat. - still getting my phone out for this info.

I’ve had a couple cracks at trying to change the code myself but am new to coding. I had the module pulling in the right data in the provider JS but couldn’t pass it through to be used properly in the main noaa3.js to display. I also kept losing track of all the current.current.current levels. I am using accuweather but am somewhat agnostic.

Is this an option to have today’s weather rather than current weather displayed?
    Thanks!

Thanks but it’s not what i’m looking for…
I need something that reads the destination in the calendar information and set the time, not a module where I have to set the destination

    Hi all,

My first post in the forum, but just after a couple of days I’ve been reading tons of documents, seen Youtube video’s and using Google a lot :) (what else to do when the snow-storms are blowing outside my windows…?).

My question is about what modules are suited and will work the best together based om what I’m hoping to achieve.

First; this is what I got:

Several RPi 3B+'s 1 Google AIY Voice Kit (v1) Enough monitors to use :) Google Home Patience, and a lot of it

What I want to achieve is:

MM should have multiple modules Use Facial Recognition to use classes for personalized modules/information Ability to talk to the mirror to show/hide modules and open streams in an iFrame Use Google Assistant to do “general Google Assistant stuff” Use Assistant/Voice module to open maps and other stuff from internet within an iFrame

So - what modules to use?
    Been looking at:
    MMM-Hello Lucy
MMM-AssistantMk2 or Google AIY Voice Kit
    MMM-Facial-Recognition

Hope I will get some good feedback from any of you pro’s

Thanks, and also thank you all for all the good stuff, hints, solutions and other reading I find in this forum!

Regards from above the arctic circle,

Hi! New to MagicMirror and really impressed. Just wondering whether anyone had created a flashcard style module displaying a random ‘fact’ from a users custom selection? e.g. If I wanted a various History fact from a subject I’m studying, every time I use the mirror it would come up with a fact from a selection that I’d put in earlier, thus making a quick and easy revision tool.

My best bit of advice is always look for an easy starting point and don’t reinvent the wheel if you don’t have to…

    Hello everyone,
this is my first post here.
I have been playing with the smart mirror for a couple of days and I am amazed by the incredible work that Michael and the whole community has done on this!

I have set up a few modules and I am definitely going to keep playing with this and, when I have some more free time, I will probably look for writing some simple module myself.

I actually have a probably not very common configuration. I have installed the magicmirror software on top of a raspbian image coming with the AIY Voice kit. Basically I am running the magic mirror and the google assistant demo python script that comes with the AIY voice kit and this allows me to have both a smart mirror and a google home like device on the same place.

Currently, the only real interaction between the google assistant on the AIY and the mirror happens when I add a calendar event and I see it appearing on my magic mirror ics calendar module a few seconds later.

OK I probably gave you a way too long intro here…let’s get to the point! :)

I have also installed a couple (and will get more out there) devices that I currently manage via google assistant (voice commands) or via the google home app. It’s just 2 simples switches (brand sonoff / eWelink) that I use to turn stuff on and off.

What I wish for is a module that could show on the mirror the status of the devices I have at home. Something as simple as:

device name 1: ON device name 2: OFF device name 3: ON

I believe there is a module that does something similar for Home Assistant:
    https://github.com/leinich/MMM-homeassistant-sensors

Ideally I would need just a list of the status of the devices that I can see on my google home app on my mobile.

I have not found much about this but I hope that since you can ask your google assistant “Is the front door light on” and you get an answer on that status of that…possibly there is a way to get that status and build a module for it.

Well I am looking forward for your comments and please consider that:

I am sorry if there is already a way to do this with the current 3rd party modules I am sorry if I said things that are either impossible and/or do not make much sense…I am kinda new to all this hehe :)

Thank you in advance if you got until here and for any possible feedback :)

@joern it seems that there is a way to get it unpaired from the app.
and then fetch the data to the mirror.
now for the sleep status , maybe you could get the heart and do a program calculation of the pulses(update actually the movement is calculated from 12 until 6am, so you have to program gyroscope or something like that) when you were most rested and get the sleep status… deep sleep, weak sleep, etc.
And even get a message like, you slept well, or you slept bad.

    what do you think?

@ezrael-villan - Yes. But that sort of functionality is equivalent to running when you’re still learning to crawl. Get grade data to show up on the MagicMirror interface first, then worry about switching users.

MMm-CalendarExt2 has a feature different views with different start date. You can change them with notifications.

@bminer1 - I’m glad your FiL likes your mirror! To answer his question, the answer is generally “Any location with a web API is easy. Most other data sources are possible *.”

I’ve been developing systems for more years than I care to admit. I would guess that he has an employee/coworker who maintains a spreadsheet with metrics for his various processes. Spreadsheets are simple and easy to use, so they end up doing a lot of lifting in any business. The spreadsheet probably performs both data storage and calculation roles and they’ve probably been using it for years.

I wonder… there’s got to be a simple tool out there that will use a spreadsheet as a data source and expose an API to query the spreadsheet. You could then use the existing modules (MMM-Rest, for example) to query that API.

*Sometimes I am too much of a literalist. There are certain sources of data that are too large for the Pi to handle with its limited memory and processor. You will not be able to display a ray tracing rendering process, for example, as there is too much data for the Pi to keep up.

Or you can use “MMM-DailyAlarm” which can send notification by periodical repeated time per day.

And for alert, you can use HTML or image for more significant notice.
