The 32" Inch Mirror
-
Today I started building my ‘command center’ that will be in my kitchen. It will be a mirror but also the focal point of the house.
I’m using a mini-itx motherboard, intel cpu and 8 gig of ram running with an SSD drive…
Software installed is:
Newest MM2
Voice Control by @strawberry-3-141
MMM-NFL
MMM-NFLweather
MMM-Mail
MMM-Astrologyand default modules [minus - compliments and newsfeed]
The voice software is VERY responsive and I’m VERY happy with it!! Excellent job by Strawberry…
Future plans are:
Lighting control
Thermostat control
Bluetooth door lock control100% touch screen [have to order ir frame] —!!!DONE!!! as of 3/10/2017 :alien:
So far it’s being tested and it sits on my counter running… or ‘burn in’ as us old computer guys used to call it LOL
I’ll keep you posted as it develops. This is a big project and my hope is to have more voice controlled modules on it :)
So currently I am running MM2 on my bedroom touch alarm clock and I have a MM in my bathroom… so eventually my house will be totally within reach from just about any room or phone! :)

@cowboysdude Don’t forget to post some pictures when you made some progress :)
there are only few steps to integrate the voice control to someones modul cough https://github.com/fewieden/MMM-voice/blob/master/DEVELOPER.md
-
@strawberry-3.141 I will be taking pictures of each step :)
I will indeed be looking at the developer link!! Thanks!!!
-
Have to take a break… so this project is on hold :)
Thanks everyone!

It installs quite easily! You’ll be surprised :)

Progress on the 32" SO far I have the hardware working quite well. It’s quite fast… Yeah I know this is an RPI project but I wanted it for more…
Touchscreen is working awesomely!!
Here’s a sneak peek… [the red box around the humidity is like an alert …it flashes if over a certain number as does the temp]… The extended forecast on the right actually rotates through 7 days of upcoming weather…

Thanks for your reply, may i know have you purchased with or without mirrorOH I’m sorry… This will not be a mirror. It’s just a touch screen with glass and it’s more like a ‘command center’ for my house. BUT I used clear glass on top of the TV then the touch frame on top of the glass. Can’t be sure if a mirror would give the same response because the actual thickness of a real glass mirror is much more than a regular piece of glass.

Well after 9 months here’s my update…
The HestiaPi thermostat is a go… My mirror is touch so I can actually load this in an iFrame and manipulate the controls [tested and working :)].

I have temp and humid sensors on the way so that I can see what’s going on in my entire house :)
Next: create a new sitemap for openHab because here in the US we don’t have our Hot water attached to the Thermostat. Our tanks are stand alone and we control it on the tank itself. So I can cut that site map down quite a bit and only show what I want it to show… :) Not complaining but I thought I had help with this but … guess I"m on my own LOL Sooooooooooooo
Nice having Touch on the mirror :)

@cowboysdude Can you please give a list of hardware? I saw from other comments that you are ordering the touch screen from Alibaba, but what about the monitor and the frame?
Can you please post some pictures so we can see how you assembled them together?
Thanks.
-
@blaiseliu Well it isn’t ‘assembled’ as of yet…kinda just propped up on my desk LOL
For hardware I’m using a mini itx board with intel chip and ssd hard drive in a small case.
The TV is a Vizio 32" tv…Yes the touch screen works VERY well… no issues there… let me see if I can pull it all together for you and I’ll post it later.
-
I do not understand if you finally used the touchscreen with a glass or mirror. Ty
-
@dvbit I use it with glass…no mirror…
-
OK BIG update…
I’ve decided after trying to figure some things out and I have come to this conclusion:
- I’m CLEARLY not going to get help with a thing or two I asked for help on, that’s okay… people are busy or just not interested either way I have learned some useful information…
- I have to choose a new platform [that would work best with controlling things, still using MM as a backbone] that will give me what I want, I’ll be doing research on this to figure out what works best.
I’m open to suggestions for this:
My goal is to be able to control my therm, door lock, see temp and humidity in every room…control lights…
If anyone has had luck with the above feel free to offer suggestions!! I’m looking for hardware and api input.
Thanks in advance!
