This error you got is just letting you know it can’t overwrite file within the module that you made any changes to
You have to rename the file or delete it or just remove it from the directory -
@justjim1220 OK I ran the update succesfully by deleting the CSS.
However I would like to revert to how it was looking before the update (static image on the left and smaller scrolling text). :grimacing_face:
How do I do that please? -
If you did not make any changes to the original files, run
git pull && npm installIf you made changes to any of the original files that you want to keep, rename those files, then run
git pull && npm installif there isn’t anything you need saved, delete the MMM-NewsFeedTicker directory and run the
git clone '. . .' -
@justjim1220 that’s what I already did, but I see you now fixed that. :)
Thanks.
-
Looking good, other than the logo now appearing centered on final position - I have deleted all custom css…
-
@bkeyport so that’s not only me?
I thought I messed up something in the CSS.
-
@Cr4z33 Nope, not just you.
Fixed it, actually. added the line “left: 0px;” in my custom css in the “.MMM-NewsFeedTicker .image” section… it’ll force the image to the left.
-
@bkeyport oh great doing it now thanks.
-
fwiw, it could have happened as adjustments made to the code for a feature I asked for… :innocent look:
-
Any way to make the logo smaller? It got huge with using the keyframes bit
-
yes, as a matter of fact. Fixes the centering too if you have that problem:
custom.css in css subdirectory:
.MMM-NewsFeedTicker .image {
position: absolute;
display: inline-block;
vertical-align: middle;
margin-left: 0;
height: 40px; /* set to your image size */
z-index: 1;
background-color: #FFF;
bottom: 0;
left: 0px;}

This module has been updated
Please do agit pull && npm ito update
Thanks! -
Hello,
Great module, exactly what I was looking for. however, the lettering stutters. Is there a way to fix this? I use a Rasperry pi3. How do I remove the logo from the feed? Many thxmy config.js
{ module: "MMM-NewsFeedTicker", position: "middle_center", //classes: "day_scheduler", config: { feeds: [ { title: "sportBILD", url: "https://sportbild.bild.de/rss/vw-fussball/vw-fussball-45036878,sort=1,view=rss2.sport.xml", encoding: "UTF-8", className: "myClass", //defaultLogo: "" } ] } },and my custom.css
.MMM-NewsFeedTicker { width: 80; height: 30px; background-color: none; } .MMM-NewsFeedTicker .tickerbody { position: absolute; bottom: 10px; transform: translateZ(0); backface-visibility: hidden; animation: marquee 30s linear infinite; } .MMM-NewsFeedTicker .image { margin-left: 0; bottom: 10px; height: 30px; } -

In this section,
.MMM-NewsFeedTicker .image {
margin-left: 0;
bottom: 10px;
height: 30px;
}add
display: none;as far as the stuttering, I was told that animation will do that with Pi

Yep, the Pi struggles with some animations. Scrolling happens to be one of them. If they are important to you then you might consider something more robust than the Pi. There are alternatives from other single board computers, all the way up to mini ITX motherboards. Still others run MM (server) on a full blown desktop machine and use the Pi to remote in to view MM

Many thanks for the answer. Yes, I also thought about buying a stronger computer. What is your opinion on the Asus Tinkerboard? would he fix the problem?

I don’t have an opinion on the Tinkerboard. I’ve never used one, but there are several people on the forum that have. Perhaps then will chime in with their opinions. Good luck.

@justjim1220 Have you ever managed to get this resolved? I a not getting the image from my 1 local news feed pulled in and not sure what else I can do to see if I can get it to come through.
The news feed is from: http://feeds.news24.com/articles/news24/SouthAfrica/rss
and the image is supposed to come from: https://scripts.24.co.za/img/sites/news24.png

-
I have never used a Tinkerboard, so no thoughts regarding the use of one. Apologies!

@mrSnatz
I didn’t test this module on ATB, but ATB is definitely stronger than RPI.
However apart from this module, you have more option nowadays. I think you can consider RK3399 or S922X. I especially recommend Jetson Nano at this moment for powerful GPU. RockPi 4 or NanoPi M4 is also good for overall performance.
