especially I had rewritten something ^^

@vongomben I personally think you will end up with an ugly rectangle hole where the monitor
is compared to the real mirror surface

@animeman0 there’s too many variables to give you an answer as it depends on there following: is there an angle difference between the monitor and glass across the whole monitor space? What is the lighting like in the area? Where is the lighting in the area? What about natural light in the area?

The only wait to know for certain is for you to try it, can you try it without removing the protective film?

The magic mirror is find when I use it with TV monitor through hdmi cable.
But when I use vga monitor to make the real mirror and I use hdmi-vga cable. The screen turn on and I can see the desktop. When it start mm, I can see it works for a few seconds, after that the screen is black and the power supply led turn off and on continuosly. Please help me solve this.

@macg I’ve got a version of Option 1. I used a 3-port extension cord and used a child safety cover as a ‘mount’ for the cord. Then there are two outlets on one side - one for the monitor PS and one for the Pi4 PS (which is an Anker 5V/3A wall wart type).Screen Shot 2021-08-20 at 1.08.25 PM.png

I’m creating a photo mirror, I’ve been doing some research on the type of mirror to use, I found the reference Pilkington miroview but I don’t know what opacity to choose? Is 50/50 best for this type of project?

Weird. I switched back to a Pi3 and it’s working fine now.
Connected it with a HDMI<>HDMI cable to the HDMI Arc port on the TV. The TV instantly popped up with a CEC connected Raspberry.

Left it for over a night and just now it perfectly started.

@schmaniel Hey, today I had the luck of finding a TV like the on you looking for. I bought a LG model nr. 32LG2100 for €40 secondhand in mint condition. I looked it up and it has CEC, but it’s called Simplink for LG. Hope this helps.

Since I have built my frame already, this TV would be a bit too big, but I found a solution for it now.
I got a Smart Plug and the TV automatically boots up, when it lost power and gains it back 🙂

I will. But at the moment it’s turned sideways on a bed 😉
The screen res. of this monitor is 1920x1080 which is the same as the monitor i have so there is no extra space. It’s just that my parents can read it 😛

When all is finished and i like it, it might swap it for a 4K monitor to add some more features into it.

@zarquan So a while back I got an LCD Controller Board in Hope of saving a screen from my old iMac. It turned out that I ordered the wrong one, and just didn’t return it. Fast-Forward a couple months when I realized that I have an old laptop that wasn’t worth upgrading. So today, I took the laptop apart and salvaged as much as possible including the screen. I hooked it up to my LCD Board and it partially works. There are lines at the Right side and it shows the top of the screen again at the bottom. I flipped the LVDS Cable and it just appeared as a white screen. Please Help!
