Hi MagicMirror team, I wanted to share with the community my MagicMirror project featuring a completely custom-built LEGO frame! Hardware Setup: Display: Vertical monitor Computer: Initially Beelink (mini PC), now migrating to Dell OptiPlex D10U System: Ubuntu (Server → Desktop) PIR sensor for automatic screen on/off control via MQTT Implemented Modules: Clock & Calendar (with Italian custom calendar) Weather (Italian weather with hourly and daily forecasts) Compliments (motivational messages) News Feed (Italian news) Automatic screen control via PIR sensor and Node.js Unique Feature: The LEGO frame is completely customizable and modular. It includes: LEGO minifigures on top Colorful decorations on the sides with bricks from various collections Decorative elements (stars, clouds, stickers) Design that perfectly integrates into the home environment Technical Challenges Solved: MQTT integration for PIR control Italian weather modules configuration Optimization for vertical display Power management and automatic screen shutdown The project became not only functional but also a decorative element appreciated by the whole family. The LEGO frame makes the MagicMirror less “techy” and more accessible, especially for children. @jackyjoy123 Hi, i wrote a Temperature (MMM-Temperature) module that supports multiple sensors. Also the data can be received via notifications or by fetching the data via tcp (with the netcat command). Personally i use an HTU21 and BME280 sensors connected to ESP32 and ESP8266 boards. The data will be send to my MQTT Bridge (Mosquitto installed on the same Pi as the mirror). With help of the MMM-MQTTbridge module the values send via MQTT will be translated to notifications which will be send to my module. One of my sensors is powerd by a small battery thats why i use the deep sleep mode of the ESP8266 board and only send new values all 10 minutes others are powerd by permanently and send data every 10 seconds. All my sketches and some configs are included in the examples directory of the module.

@fribse Hi, Thanks for that suggestion. I found a supplier in Mayo - LG Glass who could supply it. Just leaving this here for anyone looking in future. Also Tipperary glass were able to provide it at a reasonable price but do not deliver nationwide for small pieces.

Pilkington North America is just a few miles from my house, but unfortunately it looks like they only make auto glass. https://www.pilkington.com/en/us Thanks!

@megamarko112 said in LCD Controller for old TV Display: CFP190W01-A00 You can use any universal LCD controller board that supports 30 pin LVDS 2 channel, 8 bit. (FIX-30P-DO8L). Make sure you get the right LVDS cable with it. You can use the black GND wires for fingerprinting to make sure they fit your screen. You’ll also need an inverter with 4 ports for the CCFL backlight. The cheapest set should be around 3€, more advanced (TV controller)boards with HDMI you get for around 10€. Boards with a firmware dedicated to you screen cost around 30€. This is a really good site to start collecting information about LCDs.

@feedy88 I wouldn’t have pulled the circuit board out of the frame. Leave that bump intact if you can, it’s shielding to prevent interference. The rest of it is up to you. Shortest cords possible. avoid adaptors. Minimize the wiring outside the unit by using power strips if possible. In my case, I’m installing in a wall to make it flush mount.

At this point it’s really hard to troubleshoot from the distance. Of course it’s possible that either the board or the panel is broken. I suppose the menu isn’t displaying either? Have you made sure you loaded the correct firmware onto the board? You should be able to try any firmware which fits your resolution plus 1-ch 8-bit (iirc, check yourself please).

Thank to propose your help to translate. I have ordered a mirror 41.1x71.3 and I took a RPI4 and a microphone. I planned to use this mirror in my bathroom. I don’t want to place a camera because my guests will not like to be recorded in the bathroom. So it will react to voice command and touch. I’m also wondering how to make a frame. For that I will put silicon around the edges to avoid humidity between both the monitor and the mirror. After I will print 3D part to old the monitor and the glass together. The printed part will also extend the width and height to the one of the IR frame. That way I will use silicon to attach the frame to the printed part. That way I will see only the IR frame around the mirror. I hope it will work. To attach it to the wall I ordered this par. https://www.amazon.nl/gp/product/B07FP39N8J I’m wondering if it will be strong enough but at least it seems very flat. Otherwise you cna select any system ‘vesa 100x100’

I think you can consider kiperlline, which is moderate in size and cheap, which is perfect for you. [https://jp.kiperline.com/](link url)

Right now I want to be able to draw on the computer in Krita or another open source drawing program. I found the XP-Pen ( https://www.xp-pen.com ) display drawing tablet for pretty cheap, and i’m wondering whether it’s worth it for me to buy or not. I’m a beginner, but I want to become a freelance digital artist. I have read some reviews about some model of this brand, but it’s still confusing. My budget is around or under 300, however I would consider higher price (less than 600) if it’s reasonable and worth my money.

@George sorry the 75/20 refers to the level of light penetration from the back side and therefore how bright a screen may appear when turned on (what I’ve been able to research and understand anyways). The dimensions of the frame will be 620mm wide (so flush with the width of the screen) and c.1400mm tall. My plan is to have two monitors at the top and bottom of the frame.

Hi there, starting to build one mirror by myself. As I do not want to see the backlight shining through the mirror, I would like to ask everybody, what Screen did you use and how much light bleeding can you see. If possible a picture would help other people to choose one screen. I know that OLED is best, but too expensive. I think their are as well good screens out there which has less bleeding.
