@1a2a3a For the latest Wayland on off I use the new adjusted scripts. mon.sh #!/bin/bash export WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0 export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/1000 /usr/bin/wlr-randr --output HDMI-A-1 --on --mode 1920x1080@60Hz --transform 270 mof.sh #!/bin/bash export WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0 export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/1000 /usr/bin/wlr-randr --output HDMI-A-1 --off This works pretty well for me. The screen eventually times out as there is no input and it turns off. In addition to these I have these cron entries to call the scripts. Turns the screen on at 6am and off at 9pm. 00 06 * * * /home/pi/mon.sh >> /home/pi/mon.log 2>&1 00 21 * * * /home/pi/mof.sh >> /home/pi/mof.log 2>&1

@sdetweil said in Research for Basic Magic Mirror: @ruff-hi said in Research for Basic Magic Mirror: can I put an animated background / wall paper on my magic mirror? maybe, but rememeber all that animation takes cpu power… nothing is free… Fair point. I can see my magic mirror having some dark space (side or bottom) and I want to see if I can set it up so that you can’t tell where the screen starts and ends. something like an aquarium with the rocks at the bottom being part of the static (non-screen) area and the fish being on / in the actual screen area.

@cowboysdude the thing is I already have a large hallway mirror someone gave me, so I thought I could add a couple of monitors behind it and make a nice magic mirror.

@lpassamonte not sure if you’re even still here or trying this but I just joined so gonna necro the thread. Probably better for you to post rpi specific questions in the raspberry pi forums, and a quick google search found this thread that might solve your issue: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5107 Basically they had to edit the config file and enable a couple of HDMI boot options. Good luck!

@gbarranco Any monitor will work that has HDMI input. Here’s the trick though. if you’re gonna put it in/on a wall, use a monitor that has it’s ports pointing down, not out of the back. Make sure if you’re going to put it behind mirror glass that it’s flat - you don’t want a curve on it so it can sit flat against your external glass. I personally use a monitor like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Ultrasharp-U2719DX-2560x1440-Resolution/dp/B07KGR784M/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=edge+to+edge+monitor&qid=1615315119&sr=8-4 Notice how the image is edge to edge, that way I can take off the frame and have almost all the monitor used.

Hi everyone, for a Ph.D. project I would like to build a full screen mirror. I was thinking of the AOC Q34E2A as the screen to use. I don’t know if someone of you have any experience with AOC screens but I was hoping to fix the Raspberry Pi on the notch of the back of the screen and build only a wooden frame on the side in order to be able to use the VESA wallmount to fix the whole to a wall. [image: https___aoc-pim.s3.amazonaws.com_q34e2_BR.png] What do you guys think? Is it doable? Thanks!

@jackyjoy123 Hi, i wrote a Temperature (MMM-Temperature) module that supports multiple sensors. Also the data can be received via notifications or by fetching the data via tcp (with the netcat command). Personally i use an HTU21 and BME280 sensors connected to ESP32 and ESP8266 boards. The data will be send to my MQTT Bridge (Mosquitto installed on the same Pi as the mirror). With help of the MMM-MQTTbridge module the values send via MQTT will be translated to notifications which will be send to my module. One of my sensors is powerd by a small battery thats why i use the deep sleep mode of the ESP8266 board and only send new values all 10 minutes others are powerd by permanently and send data every 10 seconds. All my sketches and some configs are included in the examples directory of the module.

@megamarko112 said in LCD Controller for old TV Display: CFP190W01-A00 You can use any universal LCD controller board that supports 30 pin LVDS 2 channel, 8 bit. (FIX-30P-DO8L). Make sure you get the right LVDS cable with it. You can use the black GND wires for fingerprinting to make sure they fit your screen. You’ll also need an inverter with 4 ports for the CCFL backlight. The cheapest set should be around 3€, more advanced (TV controller)boards with HDMI you get for around 10€. Boards with a firmware dedicated to you screen cost around 30€. This is a really good site to start collecting information about LCDs.

@feedy88 I wouldn’t have pulled the circuit board out of the frame. Leave that bump intact if you can, it’s shielding to prevent interference. The rest of it is up to you. Shortest cords possible. avoid adaptors. Minimize the wiring outside the unit by using power strips if possible. In my case, I’m installing in a wall to make it flush mount.
