Hi MagicMirror team, I wanted to share with the community my MagicMirror project featuring a completely custom-built LEGO frame! Hardware Setup: Display: Vertical monitor Computer: Initially Beelink (mini PC), now migrating to Dell OptiPlex D10U System: Ubuntu (Server → Desktop) PIR sensor for automatic screen on/off control via MQTT Implemented Modules: Clock & Calendar (with Italian custom calendar) Weather (Italian weather with hourly and daily forecasts) Compliments (motivational messages) News Feed (Italian news) Automatic screen control via PIR sensor and Node.js Unique Feature: The LEGO frame is completely customizable and modular. It includes: LEGO minifigures on top Colorful decorations on the sides with bricks from various collections Decorative elements (stars, clouds, stickers) Design that perfectly integrates into the home environment Technical Challenges Solved: MQTT integration for PIR control Italian weather modules configuration Optimization for vertical display Power management and automatic screen shutdown The project became not only functional but also a decorative element appreciated by the whole family. The LEGO frame makes the MagicMirror less “techy” and more accessible, especially for children. @MarkV u can change the MM config and have it start on the second screen… add (after the address: config ) electronOptions: { x: ????? }, where xxx is the width of your 1st display or y: ??? if vertical you can also run two instances of MM from the same folder with different configurations on different ports drag is to make ONE BIG MM across BOTH screens the maximize function only does ONE screen… open chrome on any screen, hit maximize button… nothing we can do

I learned how to hang it on the wall. Check lots of information and find out the 3 easiest and most effective methods: Method 1. Use frameless mirror hangers Method 2. Use mirror putty Method 3. Use adhesive tape All you need is to use them and help from some tools to get more.

@magmar hey, you’ve done great detective work :) Yes, I removed the frame to be able to attach monitor as closest as possible to the glass. As you know, casing could be very different from solid 1-3cm wide borders to frame-less with almost no edges. I agree best solution would be to find the same monitor I checked local classifieds but I can’t find the same model so I’ll choose one which has closest dimension and give a try. If height is smaller than my wooden frame I’ll find a way to fix it. If it’s larger then I’ll have to sand down if it’s possible.

@Kostosso not outdated… pm2 (node process manager) job is to start (at boot too) AND keep running any number of processes you can define the process in a json file (so you can have a pretty name vs the name of the script/executable) see the pm2_MagicMirror.json on my scripts site for the model I use in the install script or pm2 start xxx.sh (bash scripts MUST have .sh extension) if u start them directly) you can start your browser and also the python script with pm2…

Hi all, any experience with Saint Gobain mirrors? It’s the only one I can find locally. Attached specs. I’m told is 6+4mm thick. [image: 1665062235700-saintgobain.png] mentioning the expert, seeking your thoughts! @Goldjunge_Chriz

UPDATE! From a quick search I have done I decided that it is better to connect arduino and led strip on the same power supply. My led strip is a 3m ws2812b neopixel with 30pixels/meter which consume 60mA/pixel in full brightness so (60*90)/1000=5.4A. The power supply I am using is 5V - 6A so I think it anough for both since arduino’s only job is to send data to led strip. Please If someone has better knowledge of electricity correct me. Thank you.

@Reif frame has an external connection box. for HDMI connections, don’t know how big it is. one is 5 inches tall https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062213/ but maybe some are smaller https://www.techradar.com/news/the-samsung-one-connect-box-is-back-for-2021-but-something-needs-to-change the one I have on my 2017 82in tv is fairly small, thin [image: 1662811089494-20220910_064727-resized.jpg]

@Fozi I’m using the psu that came with the RPi 3B+. I have no extension cables. The only things I have attached is the HDMI monitor, Bluetooth keyboard and the SD chip. I wouldn’t think that would be too much for standard psu I’ll take a look at Amazon and get something with a little more umph. Thanks all for the lessons. Dennis
