@OrangeMirror the current docker setup will only work for multiple instances IF you use the MM_CONFIG_FILE environment variable to run instances off different config files, or the MM_PORT env variable to override the port if using the same config.js all the files will come from the ONE folder tree ~/magicmirror so this means you would have to setup multiple entries in the compose.yaml to launch multiple instances (with the different config parms) You have to change the container name too this is because all the DATA used by the container is external (on docker host filesystem) and not IN the container an example NOT using docker, but same idea here https://docs.magicmirror.builders/configuration/introduction.html#advanced-configuration-and-frequently-asked-how-to-configure-examples

Hello, I’m trying to make this project ( https://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Based-Living-Portrait-Player-Intro/ ) into a Module. The difficulty I have is that I’m using Simple-Swiper module to switch the pages of my mirror. Here is what I’m trying to do : the user can navigate on the different pages. when he reaches the last page , omx player is displayed with the video but doesn’t play the video. It just display the first image. This is what is done in the Living-Portrait-Player. if a move is detected, the video plays. if the user switch the page, omx is killed and disappears. I’m asking for your help because I have already started something but I can’t manage to make it work. I’m getting inspiration from multiple modules for this project. MMM-PIR which is the one I’m using as a main module and I’m modifying the code of that module. MMM-Podcast MMM-pages to find out what is the current page MMM-RTSPStream for methods related to omxplayer I wonder if I can use the callback method in MMM-PIR to run the script when the user arrives on the page. I haven’t tried that yet. And also, how to kill omx when the user changes the page. I’m also having difficulties to get the current page in the MM-PIR modules. I’m using this.sendNotification(“QUERY_PAGE_NUMBER”); in the MMM-PIR.js but seems like MMM-pages doesn’t receive the notification. I would be so thankful if someone could help me working on this.

@allebone yes, run unique docker instances for each person. Port 8080 for Sue 8081 for Bob 8082 for Ted Etc. The internal mm config is the same, port 8080. Just different modules and config for each.

@Stoffbeuteluwe nvm help easy installation and maintenance. And furthermore, you can test different versions of nodejs and npm in one device without removing current version and resinstalling.

I built a MM running on Win10 for the kids showing agenda, weather, and news headlines. Now my wife would like one in the kitchen. Not a MIrror, but an information screen to replace our paper calendar. What she’s asking for ideally is a calendar display, with a touch interface to show the daily agenda. If it could also somehow display a recipe on request that would be awesome. Is something like this possible with MM on a PI, and what kind of hardware would I need?

as for the config.js not showing as modified, it is EXPECTED that this file will be modified and so it is not tracked (see the .gitignore file) so that on updates it will not be overwritten

I am looking into building a smart mirror within the next month and would like to have google home functionality integrated. I have been unable to find any information regarding a smart mirror using a pre-existing google home mini. I have only seen them using the google AIY voice kit. I am wondering if the same can be accomplished with my google home mini as has been done with the AIY kit. Thanks.

You don’t need to invent the wheel twice by your own. (Unless your wheel might be squared)
