      @mdhenriksen said in Window foil / plastic film for MagicMirror?:

      Is there any downside to doing that?

      I think the general consensus is that foil is very difficult to work with and unforgiving to minor errors during installation. However, some people have used it successfully. I have not.

      I’ve seen a fair share of mirrors and some seem to do a much better job at not being “see through”

      There are many factors that cause that. Transparency/Reflection ratio, light behind the mirror, display smaller than the mirror itself, and so on.

      Glass mirror is most expensive but is most satisfying and adaptive. Acrylic mirror is less expensive but it has its own set of drawbacks. Foil is least expensive and is hard to work with.

      Do a search on the forum. This has been discussed at length

      Looks Great! Could you post your config.js file so I can see how you have stuff setup?

      If you really want the entire config I guess I could post it when I get a chance to remove all the private data.

      I’m curious to see how you setup multiple news feeds in the same module.

      This I can show you right now. Replace the rss or xml feeds with your own, or use these:

      {
      			module: 'newsfeed',
      			position: 'bottom_bar',
      			config: {
      				feeds: [
      					{
      						title: "NASA",
      						url: "https://www.nasa.gov/rss/dyn/solar_system.rss"
      					},
      					{
      						title: "Reuters Science News",
      						url: "http://feeds.reuters.com/reuters/scienceNews"
      					},
      					{
      						title: "New York Times",
      						url: "http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/HomePage.xml"
      					},
      					{
                          	                        title: "BBC World News",
                          	                        url: "http://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/world/us_and_canada/rss.xml"
                      	                 },
      				],
      				showSourceTitle: true,
      				showPublishDate: true
      			}
      		},
      	]

      };

      /*************** DO NOT EDIT THE LINE BELOW ***************/
      if (typeof module !== 'undefined') {module.exports = config;}

      Feature

      This really should have been included from the beginning. I guess it just didn’t cross my mind. Anyway, . . .

      The module will now read the timeFormat: 12, (or 24) of your config and display the correct time format.

      Do a git pull or install as per the readme

      EDIT: Thanks CBD!

      MMM-EARTH captured a unique perspective of the recent Total Solar Eclipse and I could not be more pleased. We’ve all seen the pictures of the sun eclipsed by the moon’s transit. A truly awe inspiring event. But who has seen the shadow that passed over the earth? MMM-EARTH, that’s who.

      Ok, so I’m bragging a little, but come on! It’s friggin cool!

    • Totally off topic :^')

      Ok, maybe not totally off topic. The work I’ve done with MM is mostly Science related, and Nature certainly fits in there comfortably. Anyway . . .

      In May, I dragged myself away from my MagicMirror just long enough to germinate some seeds for Spring planting. Specifically, Cardinal Climber seeds. Now, you may be thinking, “Mykle is an old guy. He likes gardening,” and you would be right. However, it is the visitors to the things I plant that interest me more than the plants themselves. And right on schedule, year after year, I am graced with visits from one of natures unique adaptations, and some other special guests. I live in New York City, specifically, Staten Island. We’re not known for our displays of Nature.

      So, with a little forethought and preparation in the month of May, I get rare (for this area) visitors that my neighbors only dream about.

      Shut the F#%( up, Mykle!

      The pictures are a little deceiving. You should know that those little red flowers are about an inch long, and the hummingbirds about 2 - 2 1/2 inches. They appear larger because of the zoom.

      So here is a video I took with my iPhone yesterday, August 25, 2017 at about 4:30PM Eastern US time. The same time I was taking the pictures above with my camera. I would REALLY like to see a Jättesvärmare or Nattsvärmare now that I know about them. Make the video full screen for a better view. At 0:22 you can hear me whisper, “Ahh, beautiful!”

      @MichMich said in Your help is needed! Looking for new moderators!:

      Requirements for the job:

      You should know the MagicMirror framework well. Ideally but not mandatory, you have already committed some changes to the core project
      You enjoy and have fun helping other people
      You should be (almost) fluent in English
      If you are interested, write a short text why you’d love to be a moderator, as well as telling us a bit about yourself and post it in this topic!

      I’m not asking for the position but I would like to vote for @sdetweil. He already surpasses all the requirements. Talk about being overqualified. No one deserves it more than him. He already helps everyone.

      i like the moving eye! (~30sec)

      Me too. It’s the reason I made this module in the first place.

      can i have that as a small module. please ;)

      You’re in luck. I made it a few months ago. You can choose from a nice assortment. The “eye” being number 1.

      But i only have a Pi3.

      Ok, here’s the thing. It runs just fine on a Pi3. However, if you have a lot of other modules running, especially those that are cpu intensive, you might see some loss of fluid animation. Many modules transitioning at the same time could have the same effect.

      Two instances of the module in the config.js, both with the eye selected, will give you a pair of eyes. A little css management and you can get them relatively close together.

      So, go here
      https://github.com/mykle1?tab=repositories
      and scroll down and click on MMM-EyeCandy. Feel free to browse the other modules, too.

    • RE: MagicMirror: Changing font colors

      @AliAS

      The above example does work. It can even be shortened, as such.

      .clock .time {
        color: yellow; /*#82bae5; nice, light blue colour */
      }

      .calendar {
        width: 300px;
      }

      html {
      	cursor: default;
      }

      Just to confirm. These are being added to your custom.css file (and saved). And that file resides within the css folder.

    • MMM-CARDS

      Description:

      Play 5 Card Stud Poker against your mirror!

      How it works

      Your mirror is always the dealer. Each hand starts with a newly shuffled deck of 52 standard playing cards. You get the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th cards, just as you would when playing heads up poker. Your mirror gets the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th cards, just as it would if it were the dealer playing heads up poker. Your hand is exposed first, one card at a time. Then the mirror’s cards are exposed, one at a time.

      When the hand is over, a new hand starts with newly shuffled deck of 52 cards.

      Examples:

      css file included for card size and coloring and aligning text.
