this turned out to be a permissions problem. the folder was created w the synology user, but the container is running ss user 1000

How is your current config.js and custom.css?
To make things simple; disable all other modules(of course, except the default calendar module) then focus on this module alone, then adjust things.

@reilley I had a bug in one of MY modules that allocated space for an image, but didn’t release it, and eventually the browser died. black screen

took me a year to find it as it appeared random…
random was how many images it actually displayed, depending on how many times it was active… (when the mirror went to sleep it stopped processing and resumed on wakeup… so every time I went down the hall it would wake up again… )

but I haven’t seen that problem with any of the modules you listed

Thank you for the tip.
I had to do a bit of research first because the taskbar can no longer be hidden so easily in Bookworm.

After that I only had a blue line on the side because of the background image, but I replaced this with a black one and now everything works perfectly.

CX2 works as standalone, so you don’t need to rely on the default calendar module. You have to include the ics URL in your config of CX2 (in calendars section. Read the Manual.)

I moved to CX3, but leave CX2 as it is. If you are satisfied with CX2, just keep to use it.

I have decided to move on from using the Pi Zero W and onto using a more powerful (and supported Raspberry Pi).
