Sandy2503- Doh! Forgot to hit publish…that should be fixed now. One option for the pyramid may be to cut triangles out of thin wood, but then you’d be forming your own bezel…may become a much more difficult project. I’ve used makerspaces before I got my own 3d printer to easily print a lot of things, though since that was a 9 hour print for my printer that may be costly. I will have to investigate if shapeways can do it for a reasonable amount. I really wanted to make the project accessible to anyone, but a 3D model was really the easiest way for me to make the case! Thanks for the kind words, glad you all are liking my entry into this wild world of magic mirrors :D

@bhepler Thanks! I got the bend mostly fixed by adding supports that ran the length and width of the frame. It’s still nowhere near as perfect as glass would be. This was mainly a proof of concept, so I know what tweaks to make when it comes time to build another.

Boas. A minha grande questão é: onde compraste o vidro? Ando há dias a pesquisar e parece que só consigo lá fora. Ou então não ando a procurar no sitio correto… Está com um aspecto fantástico. Hey. My big question is: where did you ge the glass? I’ve been searching for days and it’s seems my options are all abroad. Or else im searching in the wrong places… It looks amazing

@zitomd said in Recycled Laptop Screen that was wife approved!: Thanks. Looking at your Lucy Module and your UFO module. Needed to get the “proof of concept” done before I invested more time or money. Problem is with work and a family, there doesn’t leave much time to tinker. Understood, my friend. I was just trying to be witty.

Now the very last part of this project is making the frame/mirror assembly to seat the monitor and RP. Went to Home Depot, got some wood. Went to Harbor Freight, got a free gift (5’X7’ tarp) . Oh, and a miter box. Did a simple frame design with 45 degree angle cuts, and a small framed box behind that. The only material(s) I can recommend for this part of the project is the two-way acrylic sheet. Everything else will obviously vary based on the frame you want to build. Setup (Note free tarp!): [image: 1546975297168-pi-fram-setup.jpg] Progress: Incorrectly measuring/cutting wood. [image: 1546976162664-pi-frame-cutting.jpg] Assembling/securing frame. This was irritating, as the cuts weren’t perfect, resulting in less than ideal alignment of the pieces. Oh well! We slapped some Gorilla Wood Glue on the edges, then sent some staples (yikes) into the corners to keep it all together. This oddly worked perfectly. [image: 1546975606576-pi-frame-3.jpg] [image: 1546975682500-pi-frame-2.jpg] Once the glue dried, we hammered the staples all the way in, flipped it over, and were again, pleasantly surprised to see that it looked excellent. My dad sanded down the now front of the frame. Huzzah! [image: 1546975797566-pi-frame-final.jpg] Now that that was done, I had to make a box to hold the brains: I (poorly) cut some wood, and just screwed it to the back of frame to accommodate the OUTER edges of the monitor. Just pretend I didn’t split that one piece of wood. [image: 1546976228195-pi-box-0.jpg] [image: 1546976228628-pi-box-1.jpg] [image: 1546976229053-pi-box-done.jpg] All I have to say about the box is “Good not great”. 99.5% finished product: [image: 1546976392656-99.5-finished.jpg] [image: 1546976507729-99.5-finished-2.jpg] I didn’t say 100% finished because if you look, you’ll see the blue clamps on the either side holding the monitor into the box. I haven’t quite figured out how to secure the monitor into the box yet. So any ideas/tips/tricks are welcome!

@bhepler We are the third owner of this house. The first owner never used it, the second owner used it once with their grandkids, and we have used it once in the two years we have been here. Our hot water heater isn’t big enough to fill it… stupid

Hello, I am a creator who starts learning Magic Mirror. I always appreciate and respect open source developers. I hope someday I will be able to contribute. My 3 year old daughter likes to see a comic called Johnny Johnny Yes Papa on YouTube. So I made a simple application to have a conversation with Johnny Johnny. Here is full video for this, https://youtu.be/ittQUTBhCGM [image: 1546180920328-ra-tutorial-004-magicmirror-ga-jjyp.00_00_52_07.%EC%8A%A4%ED%8B%B8001.png] [image: 1546181284340-ra-tutorial-004-magicmirror-ga-jjyp.00_13_15_06.%EC%8A%A4%ED%8B%B8002.png]

@mdhenriksen yeah that’s not it I’ve made it visible in all, I changed it a while ago :) that’s how I noticed but if I go through it with VNC no errors at all, it’s got to be how the web page is handling it, I’ve got the mmm-Hue-Lights erroring as well only when I view it from that but most of the time I’m using the VNC to view it anyway so no real big deal just annoying when I do 😂

I’m using an evaluation Module - DLPDLCR2000EVM , about £100 UKP. Things to note: I think it was a limited run, Farnell have been sold out for some time, and digikey’s stock is dropping. Resolution is LOW 640x360 Its designed for a BeagleBone Black, I used a Pi Zero W adapter board from MickMake on tindie, needs soldering though. It’s powered off a 5v wall-wart, no battery (though I think MickMake may be working on that) no enclosure no firmware customization, it boots to a bright splash screen and then you have to fiddle around sending I2C commands. Soldered in you have NO GPIO left over for anything at all Soldered in the usb ports are inaccesible the zero w is somewhat underpowered, currently I’ve got MM running in docker on another Pi while I develop… I think you should be able to run both on the same device There’s a very faint blue patch visible when all is black, seems to be a design fault, I returned one, but the second is the same. All in all not perfect, but I’m used to that.
