@JoeRonimo I bought it on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074J4SFCJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 for $294 USD. When I was looking, the availability was hit or miss. It looks like it isn’t available currently. Keep an eye on it.

@joey Hello and thank you for your review and your opinion as well. You are right about the frame thickness but since this was my first built I want it to be safe for it’s weight so I exaggerated a little. Next will be thinner. As for the wall distance this the minimum I could do since all the components (RPi, arduino, power supplies etc) I think they couldn’t fit in a thinner frame. Although it looks great in my home. Also I kept in mind that there must be enough space in the frame for vendilation. For GA I am sorry but everyone refers to Google Assistant like this so I did too.

I put in an order for a piece of ‘smart mirror’ after ordering a number of samples. The Smart Mirror option is really cool. Much better than the other options. The issue … it is expensive.

It is being delivered today. I am planning on having everything wrapped up, installed, additional border added, location for momentary switch, etc, etc finalized by the weekend.

I have used your built as inspiration, and it is basically done. However there is one problem that is plaguing me and I don’t know how to solve it and that is light bleeding in the corners.

I saw in your pictures that you partly have the same issues however it seems not as bad as for me. Did you do anything to get rid of this cross like optics?

I tried a lot from closing the corners with duct tape to little wooden blockers in the frame etc. but nothing seems to work really.

For a bit more context, there are lightstrips facing the wall. Most of it is under opaque cove. Also you can see my experiments blocking some of the corners with tape

@SJK this is very cool! This method could be used for an eInk type display. It’s really making me think those old pi zeros could be very useful again.

My housing design consisted of the frame, followed by the two-way glass and monitor stacked on top of each other. This stack was surrounded by the dummy box and finally a plywood back board was attached to the back.

I created a frame and dummy box using two 3-in x 6-ft pine boards. Then I attached the two-way glass to the back of the frame with silicone glue.

I secured the monitor inside the dummy box and flat against the glass using four 4-in corner braces.

I attached the dummy box to the frame back using 1.5-in corner brackets.

The plywood backboard was attached using 2-in corner brackets, followed by a French cleat to allow the entire unit to hang on the wall, no stud needed!french_cleat_plywood.jpeg
Lastly, I used cable ties to organize the cords behind the monitor and velcro squares to secure the power boxes and Raspberry Pi to the back of the monitorvelcro_squares.pngback_view.png

sure, here you go, still WIP, I need to fix 2 borders and decide if I want to paint it black.

the camera from the playstation move is deactivated, I removed everything and try to use the mic array inside the frame. I want to use it for voice stuff, but honestly the touch frame with MMM-Touch is already awesome to control.

the PI Cam should be used for face recognition & photo booth fun with guests.

also I try to add PS3 Controllers and use the Screen as a retro game console in the kitchen.

danke fürs Lob, sorry für die superspäte Antwort…
Ich verwende das MMM_Webradio Modul. Habe es ein wenig verändert, um die Logos für die Radiostationen anzuzeigen. Aber so wie es ist funktioniert es auch gut (habe ehrlich gesagt schon lange nicht mehr meine Module aktualisiert, weiß daher nicht, wie es aktuell tut)
