Quick answer: They use different libraries to read out the sensor. One requires sudo, one doesn’t.

@JbeesonMagic16 I almost posted the same exact problem but I found this page (thread?) (Whatever), but due to the help you received and your last comment about the private link to google calendars ical, I was able to resolve the issue without asking the question. This place is awesome. :-) Up votes for everyone!

@Jopyth Works like a charm. Many thanks to you and @cowboysdude. I should probably learn more about Git and create a repo of my own based on RedNax67’s great work. That way I can keep tinkering and learning.

@schmo90 I’m sorry, not helping your issue here, but, where do you have the adps-9960 placed? I have ordered one but I’m curious to know if it can read gestures when placed behind the mirror glass?

I am going to quote my previous post: Maybe you can post an anonymous copy of your ics file? Without more information this is going to be difficult to resolve. Edit: Somehow the dates in the parsing are being ported back to a date before 1970, probably because a year is not passed or interpreted correctly. Additionally it might be useful to know when you last updated (when it was still working) and at what point in time it stopped working, this would limit the changes we have to look at a little bit.

@morozgrafix said in starter problem # 2: Cool. Sometimes off brand SD cards is the culprit of data loss. Memory is so inexpensive these days it is worth getting a good brand name card. Hopefully your trouble will now end with a new memory card. Also after so many installs you are a PRO now. Yes. Also I want to add, I’ve had some problems when the RaspberryPI is not connected to good power supply. This has caused corrupted data into SD card.

Did you go through these steps - after getting the MM software up and running? https://github.com/MichMich/MagicMirror/wiki/Auto-Starting-MagicMirror What is the result when you type: pm2 list in the terminal?

@l8kerjuan if you want so see your cursor in the mm view, you also have to overwrite the cursor: none; styling in custom.css
